Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
3 February 2004
Excerpt: "The night makes people gloomy and brings out the darkness that resides deep within their hearts." So advises a friend as Billy Hatcher begins his quest to restore the sunlight to "Morning Land." Any fan of anime will probably not find it terribly surprising to hear these kinds of weirdly ominous pronouncements spouted by cute, fuzzy animals.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg is a fun and original platformer that provides a refreshing take on the genre. It requires an open mind and a degree of patience, and those judging the game by its cover will be surprised by the challenge. Buy it and have a clucking good time. Cock-a-doodle-doo!
Excerpt: One of Sega's most influential devlopment houses, Sonic Team, have been behind few games that are not pertinent to the Sonic franchise, at least as of late. Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg is a refreshing change from the conservative developer that has been Sega with the Sonic franchise. Billy Hatcher is nauseatingly cute and yet designed in a way that can appeal to both the open-minded and younger audience.
