Excerpt: Now days there are so many new games coming out all the time, it's hard to know which ones to watch for, and a lot of great ones get passed over. Such is the case, it seems, with Beyond Good & Evil by Ubisoft. While it has been highly rated all over the gaming community and is available for all three current consoles and the PC, it's surprising that BG&E didn't produce more of a stir. Recently Ubisoft dropped the retail price to $20 on all platforms, due to poor sales.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Absolutely not to be missed. BG&E is as close as your going to get to Zelda on PS2 or Xbox, and the only thing besides Zelda on the Cube. This game really is comparable to Zelda in many respects, it's that good, and if that doesn't say something I don't know what will. Give it a chance, especially if you love great narratives and awesome gameplay. Play it now before you can't find it - because you're missing out for sure.
Excerpt: I really love to get a little surprised by the games I play, and although that is hard to achieve in my field of work - since it is my job to stay informed on almost every game out there at all times - there are still games that positively surprise me every once in a while... If I perhaps heard of them, but didn’t expect them to be this good. Beyond Good and Evil is one hell of an example for this...
Excerpt: For some reason, when I first read about this game, the old phrase from The X-Files, “The truth is out there” sprang to my mind. No, this game doesn’t star a redheaded doctor with a flair for forensic science and an unwavering level of steadfast skepticism, nor does it feature a conspiracy theorist who believes in aliens and has an insatiable appetite for porn. What this game does have that reminds me of the X-Files is a main character who is out to discover the truth.
