Animanicas: The Great Edgar Hunt – Review

18 February 2013
  • Excerpt: What is it with cartoon-based children's games? For years, they could be counted on to be the direst examples of rote game design around; lazy attempts at profiteering off the powerful and undiscerning love that can only exist between a child and his favorite animated character. Games of this genre could be counted on to scrape the bottom barrel of quality. Then THQ started putting some real effort into their Scooby-Doo themed games, and getting some very good results.

  • Excerpt: Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt comes off bigger, better and grander than previous Animaniacs titles, but still comes up slightly short in the overall experience. The graphics of The Great Edgar Hunt aren't bad per se, they just weren't what I was expecting. Seeing as the developers of this game, Warthog , are the same folks who created Looney Toons: Back in Action , I was hoping for a style very similar to that.

Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt Review

  • Summary: The Great Edgar Hunt is a fun platforming romp across the Warner Bros. lot for fans of the Animaniacs.
  • Pros: Good old-fashioned platform-style gameplay, Plentiful cutscenes with decent writing, Uses original voice actors, Pinky, The Brain
  • Cons: A touch on the easy side, Camera control gets in the way in tight areas

  • Conclusion: After a throw-away attempt on the DS, Warthog has constructed a passable platformer with the Animaniacs franchise. You won’t find anything fresh or spectacular, but the gameplay is competent and the show has (finally) been recreated with some decent accuracy.

Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt

26 September 2005
  • Excerpt: In 1993 Steven Spielberg created the Animaniacs; three Warner siblings named Yakko, Wakko, and Dot who were too zany to be of any use to the Warner Brothers’ studio. They were subsequently locked up in the studio’s water tower to keep them from creating any undue commotion, but soon enough they found a way to leave their prison tower to wreak havoc at Warner Brothers’ studios.

Animaniacs - The Great Edgar Hunt

13 July 2006
