During the heist, Kamek successfully kidnapped one twin; but the other twin accidentally slipped from the stork’s bundle and fell to the ground. With miraculous fortune, the second twin landed safely on Yoshi’s back!

  • Excerpt: First released on the Super Nintendo in 1996, Yoshi's Island came equipped with the SuperFX 2 chip; the initial model of the FX chip was included in Argonaut's classic Star Fox, and helped the SNES push polygons from the formerly 2D-only machine. Obviously, the power of the new hardware gave Nintendo the opportunity to display all sorts of great visual effects that had never been seen before.

Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3

Game Over Online
12 November 2002
  • Excerpt: The invitation to write a review of Yoshi's Island is simultaneously heartwarming, because I enjoyed the game, but also unnerving. I've never played the original Yoshi's Island. Nor did I play Yoshi's Story. Nor do I truly remember when Yoshi came into being in the Mario world. There, I have said it. I welcome all flame e-mails to criticize that I haven't played forwards and backwards a hundred times one of the definitive canons in the annals of all gaming.

Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (GBA) Review

Vooks
11 November 2002
  • Excerpt: Yoshi’s Island appeared as one of those very early technical demos that surfaced even before the GBA’s official release and was generally greeted with absolute amazement by those who encountered it. Obviously we’re going back well over 18 months here and in addition to two previous Mario titles, we’ve seen a fair few games that have pushed Nintendo’s new handheld to limits even the hardware manufacturer thought impossible.

  • Excerpt: Having never played Yoshi’s Island on SNES, I was eager to pick this game up. I said to myself, if it were anything like Super Mario World, I’d be more than satisfied. Well, incase you were wondering, it’s not like Super Mario World, rather, it throws a bunch of new game play elements into the mix. And, it’s a blast to play!
