Super Dodge Ball Advance (GBA)

ccgr.org
4 July 2013
  • Excerpt: The premise of Super Dodge Ball Advance is simple, take a team of dodgeballers to worldwide fame. A six-player team, a rubber ball, and? super throws? So maybe the game isn?t so simple after all. As an update to the cult classic NES game of the same name, the question everyone will be asking is? does it live up to the legacy?

  • Excerpt: The company that's responsible for many quirky, and most of the time bad, Japanese games brings us a rehash of a once fun and exciting game based on a famous school yard activity - dodge ball! Some of you ancient "old-schoolers" may remember the Super Dodge Ball for the Nintendo Entertainment System to be fun and original back in the day. Does this new sequel retain the magic this game once had?
  • Pros: Good, simple fun, Control is relatively easy and responsive
  • Cons: Very repetitive, Championship mode is too short

Super Dodge Ball Advance

  • Excerpt: Like dodge ball? Like Game Boy Advance? Then this is the game for you. In a way, this game is like real dodge ball, but the resemblance is vague. In real dodge ball, if you get hit once, your out. But in Super Dodge Ball Advance, each infielder has a HP meter. And instead of just throwing it, you can perform super throws, like the wide shot, and the mach throw. Each player has his own super throw, so experiment with other teams to try new throws.
  • Pros: There is such a wide variety of super throws that I probably haven't tried a quarter of them!
  • Cons: It's really annoying when you have just finished beating the other team, and you find out that you didn't raise your ranking!

Nintendo World Report

  • Summary: Can a game that features more people getting smacked by balls than Debby Does Dallas possibly live up to expectations? Only one way to find out...
  • Pros: 2 Player goodness, A great title if you don’t have time for hours of handheld gaming, Neat group of enriched songs, Nice artwork and graphical fluidity in the characters, Supposed nostalgic value
  • Cons: If you don’t have any friends with the game, or you’re into long playtime experiences, the lastability factor is non-existent, Lack of options. A tournament and exhibition mode? No story? Too bad., Repeating cycles in the enemy’s attacks makes for a boring single player experience, Shallow gameplay, What could have been…
