It spawned 3 sequels called Knight Lore, Nightshade and Underwurlde (plus 2 further sequels that never got released called Pentagram and Mire Mare). Run, run as fast as you can...

  • Excerpt: Way back in 1984 I wasn't even born. But Sabre Wulf was released on the ZX spectrum. Even back then this was an obscure machine. However the game, made by Ultimate, was a hit (relatively speaking). Ultimate, now Rare, decided there's life in the old dog yet.
  • Pros: The Wulf is back !
  • Cons: I want more !  !  !

  • Summary: I played and loved the original Sabre Wulf on the Spectrum back in the '80s. The creators, 'Ultimate: Play The Game', were THE most original and exciting programmers in the country.

Sabre Wulf (GBA)

  • Summary: This is an excellent game which leads gently from easy levels to very hard. Ideal for picking up and putting down,.....although I have spent many happy hours curled up in the corner of the sofa trying to jump over cactus......

Classic game remade with care

Inspector Gadget "Go Go Gadget Reviews", amazon.co.uk
20 February 2004
  • Summary: Although made by Rare, the game isn't stamped with Rare's own personality, rather retaining the the looks and feel of the original. The game is simple in structure; you must defeat Sabre Wulf once again by collecting pieces of a protective amulet.
