Rebelstar Tactical Command – Review
26 August 2007
Excerpt: In the early days of the first PlayStation, a quirky PC strategy game was ported onto the console and immediately secured a place on my all-time favorites list. That game was called X-Com: UFO Defense , and to this day I have fond memories of hours spent positioning operatives and planning strategies down to the smallest detail in order to eradicate invading bug-eyed aliens from Mother Earth.
Excerpt: When I was a child, I was fascinated by
television shows that depicted aliens, UFOs, and abductions in the
middle of the night. Part of that fascination was the fear that it
could happen to me. Sure, there have been some decidedly stupid shows
regarding aliens (*cough*Alien Autopsy*cough*), but as a ten year old,
the thought of extra terrestrial contact had me up late at night,
watching far more television than was healthy for my adolescent mind.
Excerpt: For as long as the GBA has existed, fans of the classic PC strategy game X-Com have clamored for a portable version. Better late than never; the makers of the legendary tactical game have finally come through with Rebelstar: Tactical Command. Though it lacks the base-building and economic concerns of its ancestor, Rebelstar delivers in a big way with a lengthy, engaging campaign married to an elegant turn-based combat system.
Pros: Elegant tactical combat interface, Lengthy campaign, Four races to choose from in skirmish, Hot seat multiplayer
Cons: No link-mode play, Presentation leaves something to be desired
Excerpt: Rebelstar Tactical Command is a gripping tactical experience. It joins Advance Wars as a great turn-based strategy on the Gameboy Advance, and easily stands shoulder-to-shoulder with modern titles...
