Metal Slug advance is a pretty good game

Slug_Master , GameStop

  • Summary: This game is pretty good. It has some great looking graphics that look as good as the arcade original. As a fan of the series myself I enjoy playing this game. The metal slugs are pretty cool too, and the addition of different metal slugs is also pretty cool. I thought the game was good even if it had not had a variety of slugs to choose from, but Metal Slug Advance does, so it's even better.

Metal Slug Advance: A cartoony contra like shooter for the GBA

Dentolux, Ciao
23 August 2011
  • Excerpt: As a fan of robotic gastropods I had no hesitation in picking up Metal Slug Advance for the GBA after spotting it at a local store. Once I started up the game I however discovered that the title had nothing to do with shell-less snails. I guess I should have known better, the box did after all lack any slimy mollusc artwork. Never mind though because what we get instead is a fine military themed side scrolling shooter for the Nintendo handheld.
  • Pros: Responsive controls, good graphics and sound, challenging boss fights and levels
  • Cons: Only five missions long, no multiplayer mode, some players may be put off by the difficulty

Unbelievably hard, surprisingly short

  • Summary: The Metal Slug games are famous for their button-bashing action, slapstick humor and white-knuckle difficulty. Not surprising that they are so hard considering they were first made for the arcade and it's a ploy by SNK for you to spend more money playing it. Now everything you loved about Metal Slug is on the Gameboy Advance, with a few new bonuses.

One tough cookie

  • Summary: This is a great converstion of the Metal Slug series on the Neo Geo. I think the graphics are particulary outstanding. Its tough, real tough. but the learning curve is just right, meaning even the slightest advancements on each game keep you going. Infinite continues help, although in the long term this will probably affect its longitivity.

  • Summary: Shoot the baddies, free the POW's, eat roast turkies & collect cards in the GBA version of the classic SNK arcade shooter with a sense of humour. You will be amazed at how much abuse GBA SP buttons will take. Especially if you hammer away with your index finger! It's perfect for a quick blast but be warned.... you might see the words 'game over' more often then you are used to. This is a tough little game.
