Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament

Portable Review
23 October 2005
  • Excerpt: Everyone’s favorite big-eared cat is back for his second adventure on the Game Boy Advance. His buddy Huepow is back as well as they embark on what may possibly be… the exact same adventure as last time. The story is different but the graphics, sound and various puzzle items are practically the same. Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament is almost more an extension of the last game than an actual new game, but it’s still a run ride that’s worth playing.

Game Freaks 365

  • Excerpt: It's hard to pen Klonoa 2 in any one genre. On the one hand, you want to call it an action-platformer, while on the other an adventure due to the backtracking and finding of various pieces, and on the other, a puzzle game, because at heart, that's mainly what it is. If you can't solve the puzzles, you're not going to get anywhere in this game. For classification's sake, let's just call Klonoa 2 an action-platform-puzzle game.

Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament Review

GameSpot
8 March 2005
  • Summary: Outdated graphics and audio don't dampen too badly an otherwise solid synergy of the puzzle and adventure genres.
  • Pros: Levels are short and tricky, Surf, forced-scroll, and boss levels shake things up, Hilarious uses for certain enemies
  • Cons: Graphics and audio lack pop, Bonuses aren’t compelling enough
