Golden Sun: The Lost Age is the sequel to the Game Boy Advance’s massive 2001 hit Golden Sun. Newcomers to this colossal hit are urged to go through and play the first installment of Golden Sun because the new episode features a rewarding link up feature which allows you to upload your character on from the first chapter to the new game. It’s humorous to see how much better the second installment of GS is so much better than the first it almost puts it to shame. Read more

    • Great graphics; devilish puzzles; brilliant soundtrack.
    • Lengthy and convoluted dialogue and story; intro might put off newcomers; some combat idiocy.

Final Thoughts Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age are two fantastic games RPG fans will go crazy over. The second installment, although only offering a handful of new features, is still an amazing game. With its great story, breathtaking graphics, and simple but deep combat system, GS will find itself in many gamers' hands. It is great to see an original RPG made for GBA in an overwhelming sea of remakes. Read more

Mike's movie comment reminded me of a joke Johnny Carson had made when he hosted the Academy Awards one year. During the telecast, he called the awards show "two hours of sparkling entertainment spread out over six hours." That seems to sum up my experience with Golden Sun: The Lost Age pretty well. Just like Mike, I found the sequel much longer than it needed to be. Read more

Golden Sun(the original) was one of the best RPGs I had ever played and definitely the best RPG I had played that year. With such a good title as a basis, I had High expectations for The Lost Age(Let's call it TLA for short, shall we?) My greatest fear was that it would suffer from the usual difficulties that sequels often have such as old and tired storyline and all too familiar gameplay. Read more

Conclusion Either you love Golden Sun or you hate it. Its as simple as that. But I really can’t see anyone in their right mind not liking this game. It would have to be someone who hates handheld games, hate RPG’s, & most of all hate quality games. Because Golden Sun: The Lost Age is all three. Most GBA RPG’s are still playing catch up to the first Golden Sun. And the sequel in even better. Read more
