Excerpt: "Doom was my first FPS and it was the best, I was 12, me, a girl...He made me loving the blood....And since then, I'm always fighting bad guys.... Don't try to find a real story: you're just a soldier and in front of you, human and aliens. Guess what? You must kill them. That's the only thing you can do: kill and kill and kill. No reflexion, just firing to survive. It's only instinct. I have imagination, and what I was young, I created a character, ...
Excerpt: "Back in 1993 Doom was a revolution & is still one of my favourite games to date. Firstly what it is all about : Your a marine stranded in a moonbase surrounded by hell spawn, the only way out is blasting your way to freedom. Featuring a semi-3D engine Doom is one of the most advanced games to run on the GBA with dynamic lighting, excellent sound quality & loads of levels. Its great running around blasting bad guys with a pump action shotgun ...
Pros: Solid conversion, great sound, many levels .
Cons: Green blood? No ultraviolence mode ! No big baddies .
Excerpt: "Doom is, well, a very old game. There's no doubting that, but has it still got all the action, adventure and machine gun blasting moments as it did all those years ago? In short the answer is yes! It may be old, but it's just as competitive an FPS as it's close rival, Ecks vs Sever. One thing you do need to know before I start is it's no different to all the other Doom games, so if you don't like the other Doom games, or you've completed them so much, ...
Summary: This is the classic game on the gameboy advance, and it is brilliant. It's basically just that; Doom on the game boy advance. All the sounds and music are pretty much the same as the PC version, and the handy new L and R buttons on the GBA make it easy to sidestep. None of the gameplay has been lost, and the multiplayer is fantastic, provided you can find someone else with a GBA and a doom cartridge. Of course some things have been changed.
Summary: Crikey... The Gameboy Advance isn't meant to be this good surely?!? I thought that Doom would be a bit clunky and naff on the GBA, so imagine my surprise when I switched on, and found a near-perfect clone of the original PC Doom game, running smoothly in full three-dimensional glory. Yup. It's Doom. Great! What more can one say? Well, this is a 5-star review, so I may as well tell you the down sides: 1) Doom is a dark, dark, game. The GBA screen is a dark, dark screen.
Summary: This is a perfect conversion of the original classic 'DOOM'. The presentation is excellent and the sound effects are exactly the same as the PC version. You can hear demons growling and grunting in the distance creating a tense atmosphere. There's music aswell which sounds ace. You'll never tire of the bang-clunk-click of the shotgun! The green blood isn't a problem because the game plays so good.
Summary: I didn't really believe it could be possible...but after shelling out for an Advance and Doom, I was completely wrong! It's as close to the PC version as you could hope to get in your hand. Granted, there had to be cutbacks - the graphics are similar to the 'low-res' mode on PC, but it was the gameplay that made the game... and its a legendary classic. Its Doom, it really is.
Summary: Doom Advance is the 1st 3D game for the gba, and boy does it rock! It looks even better than the pc version, albeit the slightly small viewing area. It runs really smoothly and fast, and is the best for longevity. You can play it on the move, there's nothing like popping a cap in an ogre's head to pass 5 minutes on the tube! But with 24 levels, it's nice no have a longlasting gba game that's also a class arcade experience. Not forgetting the nostalgic value! BUY IT!
Summary: I've just got back from New York and bought a copy of Doom advance on the day of it's release (29/10/01). What can I say ?, Fans of the original PC game will find this an almost perfect port of the PC game !. There are 24 levels in single player, the map mode is in, as are all the weapons and power ups. The gameboy advance is finally coming into it's own ( I also bought Lady Sia, Advance wars and Chu Chu Rocket all of which are exellent ! ).
Summary: You have to admit it but Doom was one of the games which started the FPS games. There was first Wolfstein 3D the Spear of destiny then as the graphics got better Doom was invented. Doom on the GBA is all about fragging/killing invading enemies they can be anything from your old team mates to 4 legged robo-spiders, you may encounter any thing. There are all the weapons from the first game but no more.
