Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars review (GBA)

  • Excerpt: Introduction I am a huge fan of point-and-click adventures. Some might even say that I appreciate them more than any other genre, because I grew up with games like Sam and Max Full throttle and the King's Quest series. Having never played the original Broken Sword or its sequel for PSX, I was very excited when I heard that it would be coming to GBA. For me, this was as if a brand new point-and-click adventure was being released right into my pocket.

Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars

Portable Review
23 October 2005
  • Excerpt: Adventure games are a dying breed. Ten to fifteen years ago, the video game market was filled with quality titles like Sam and Max Hit the Road, Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Maniac Mansion, Full Throttle, Leisure Suit Larry...the list goes on and on. These games were light on action, but they told incredible stories, often with plenty of humor, and gorgeous graphics and environments.

  • Excerpt: In 1995, Revolution released Broken Sword: Circle of Blood on the PC to critical and commercial success in Europe. Revolution followed the PC release with a European Playstation port in 1996 and a domestic Playstation port in 1998 (renamed, you guessed it, Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars), to critical success but marginal commercial sales.

Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars

Nintendo World Report
7 July 2002
  • Summary: PC-style adventure comes to GBA. Whether you’re a fan of the original game or new to the series, see how Broken Sword stacks up.
  • Pros: A control scheme that feels natural and well thought out., Although much is lost in the transition, the hand-drawn graphics still shine., A very deep and extensive story with interesting historical references.
  • Cons: A few puzzles that will stump you even after you know the answer., Loss of voice acting bogs down much of the original game’s style and humor.

Broken Sword: The Shadow of The Templars

  • Excerpt: Back in 1996 Revolution Software Ltd developed an excellent adventure game called Broken Sword. For once an adventure game that wasn't released by the gigantic Sierra or Lucas Arts, who by all means have released several awesome games. Virgin Interactive Entertainment published this gem, which ended up selling as a critically acclaimed game.

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars

GamersNET.nl

  • Summary: Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars - The Director’s Cut is een erg lekkere remake geworden van een point & click-serie die ik al tijden een warm hart toedraag. De gameplay is prima aangepast aan de besturing van de Wii en DS, waardoor de game op beide platformen goed uit de verf komt. Hoewel het spel qua geluid niet best scoort, zorgen de cartoony graphics en interessante personages voor een mooi geheel.

Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars

  • Summary: Ett peka-och-klicka äventyr på GBA?
