Pretty Good Depending on what you are looking for

Soo K., Newegg
7 December 2010
  • Summary: This is all about what you are looking for! Most people are like "The PSP Go sucks!" well it does if its not what you are looking for. I think Sony try to do something like Apple is doing with their Itouch, MP5 with great gaming features, which I like a lot.
  • Pros: Much more lighter and smaller than the other models of the psp, looks kind of sexy lol, still has all the features of a psp, 16 GB and expandable memory if you want, right now come with 3 free games! (SOCOM Bravo Fireteam 3, Little Big Planet, and Rotchet), Bluetooth, buttons feels a lot better l...
  • Cons: No UMD, Take forever to download FULL size games, limited selection in PSN, smaller screen (very little difference), Putting music can be messy, the controls can be a bit weird if you are used to other psp models, awkward placement of the volume, music, brightness buttons, web browser is not the ...

Good for new PSP owners

Kevin Y., Newegg
25 November 2010
  • Summary: * Battery Life: The PSPGo has a great battery life. I've never timed it, but outside one annoyance, I've never had it run out on me in between charges. The problem comes in the auto-on feature. If the screen is flipped up, even a small amount, the device will come out of sleep mode.
  • Pros: Very portable Beautiful screen Plenty of storage space Good sound Very good battery life* Good for movies/music/games/etc
  • Cons: Can't buy used games/sell old games (doesn't affect me, but I know it's a big deal for a lot of people) Battery life* Organizing games in the system is a pain**

Awesome pocket system for bus rides

wes, Mwave.com
18 November 2010
  • Summary: Great device, would recommend to anyone that doesnt mind carrying even more electronics with them wherever they go.
  • Pros: No more UMDs to lug around, everythings delivered digitally which is a welcome luxury. Wireless connectivity for portable internet and small form factor makes this a welcome addition to your boredom-killing arsenal.
  • Cons: Yet another device to lug around, too bad they just dont make the PSP a phone already, which is pretty much the only thing its missing. Although you can make Skype calls over wireless, thats not really a feature, just something to show off. The new digitally delivered games are going to be smalle...

Coming from a PSP-1000

Anonymous, Newegg
27 August 2010
  • Summary: Overall the PSP go is a superb for what is was meant to be. For anyone wondering why the made the screen smaller, well it was because of the battery power. To make the system so slim, they had to use a small battery, which resulted in a lower power output.
  • Pros: It is a nice system. My favorite part is the R and L triggers. They are easier to press than the old ones and they don't collect dust. Buttons have a tactile feel and respond very well. The download only set up is nice. They have all my favorite classics for download like Crash the Bandicoot and ...
  • Cons: It is a fingerprint magnet. Some of the games in the download shop are way overpriced, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is $40, which seems like way too much. No UMD drive means no backwards compatibility, to make it worse, Sony offers no legacy program. That means that you can't register your game...

Nice Game System

Raymond G., Newegg
24 June 2010
  • Summary: Overall, I am happy with it. It travels (size wise) better than my 3000. Downloaded games take up less power than the UMDs. Digital movies and TV shows run great. Do have to remember to charge it more often but lasts longer than 3000. I am happy with my purchase.
  • Pros: The WiFi work well enough and the built in mic works great for the Skype feature instead of having to pay out the $25.00 plus for the special head phones for the 2000/3000. More compact and since I have most my movies and games in digital format I just load them on an additional memory stick and ...
  • Cons: Battery!! I have enough power adaptors but still would like to have the spare batteries when the power starts to go low. Maybe an external battery pack will come out but ‘til then, I only get about 5.5 hours of use off of one charge.

Coming from a person who owned the original 1000

Mark E., Newegg
3 May 2010
  • Summary: Overall the Go isnt nearly as bad as people on here put it down for. Definately READ what your getting into esp. specs on everything that you ever buy, because if you dont you'll have problems...ie people with internet issues.
  • Pros: I was actually quite shocked with how much the playstation store has to offer now. Resistance Ret is killer and FF7 AND 8! With no load times. I never much cared for Sony but i had the psp-1000 when it was released (and yes i hacked it). Unfortunately the joystick on that one failed on me and aft...
  • Cons: Games in the marketplace are sometimes cheaper than in store UMDs, but honestly why is it necessary to be taxed for a digital download? No other online stores work like that to my knowlege. Games also have loooooooong dl times (granted it is on wireless and almost avg 1g per game onto flash) but ...

PSP Go makes everywhere better

Anonymous, Newegg
2 March 2010
  • Summary: Much easier to carry in your pocket than the PSP1000, which is what I used to have and sold because it was huge and all the games for PSP a few years ago were terrible. but now that the PSP has better games coming out for it like ModNation Racers it can be a fun time-killer and the internal 16gb...
  • Pros: The PSP go is a very convenient device! I listen to music on it all day with cool effects going on the screen and the games are fun like grand theft auto Chinatown Wars(GTA was funner than I first expected), plays videos and can have pictures stored on the internal 16gb memory and expandable with...
  • Cons: Price... I bought mine used so it was $150 so it didn't come with the free game like a new one would.

  • Cons: not yet capable of cfw

information is key

Michael B., Newegg
4 February 2010
  • Summary: some people here are saying that when you buy a digital game you're just "buying the rights to play it" or "buying the idea of owning the game". anyone with even a base knowledge of data transfer realizes that the information downloaded to the system is accessable via USB and is easy to backup to a...
  • Pros: pocket-friendly, never a lost game, more useful analog placement, more advanced hardware over the previous PSP 1000-3000 models thus better graphics, the elimination of the UMD means no more spinning discs burning up battery power and no lag waiting for a disc to be read and then processed by the...
  • Cons: no way to add already purchased UMD games to your PSPgo system, the screen is horribly exposed and you should never use a screen as a protection device for a control pad - maybe should have reversed that - but then how would they sell screen protectors? Some people say it has a worse battery life...

Nice toy

Jeffrey W., Newegg
15 January 2010
  • Summary: I like my PSP go a lot despite all the cons. Like all things Sony, liking this or not is a matter of taking the good with that bad and personal tastes.
  • Pros: Good system. Easy to use and download games to. Comfortable fit in hands. Beautiful screen. Games are cheaper at the Playstation store than in game stores. More portable than the original PSP. Easier to hide from people (bosses/teachers) who you would rather not catch you playing with it when you...
  • Cons: Sony being Sony... Its their way or no way with them. M2 memory is sad. R1 and L2 buttons can be hard to use for some people. Wireless can be a pain if you don't know what your router encryption is or how to set it so you PSP can talk to it. You can't transfer your old UDM games to it. You can on...
