Works great but a few minor things

h2o88 , GameStop
9 February 2014
  • Summary: I had a PS3 250gb slim, but the disc reader laser went bad. So I got a used PS3 160gb slim, the price is decent I guess, cost me $210 even with the warranty. I got home opened the box (box was a plain white box with PS3 handwritten).

Best current PS3 deal on new-egg

Richard J., Newegg
19 April 2012
  • Summary: I like the feel of the PS3's OS better than xbox360, and I have both, plus it is always nice to have access to netflix without having to pay for premium service, did i mention if you do decide to pay for PSN plus (cheaper than xbox live gold!
  • Pros: I love the fact that I can upload all of my home movies directly from my handy cam to my PS3, and then access them with remote play from my PS vita or PSP from anyplace with wi-fi. Free Internet is a plus, but I am still not willing to give PSN my credit info, but hey, thats what the PSN gift car...
  • Cons: Its a bit of a bummer all the new games are requiring a online pass, but most of the pre-mid 2011 titles are free online with out any pass, plus most cost under twenty bucks if you shop around (games certainly don't hold value like they use to thanks to eb games buy back with such cheap prices! PS3 is still good.

iPandaS, CNET
10 April 2012
  • Summary: PS3 is still a great console, and with the slim and price drop it's getting a lot more attention, and fast. The console has a great game library of original exclusive titles as well as a great library of non-exclusives like Call of Duty or The Elder Scrolls series.
  • Pros: Great games with HD graphics that looks spectacular., Great new look, slimmer is better., Blu-Ray, Great apps such as Netflix., Controller feels great in the hands (still) yet smaller than the Xbox's.
  • Cons: XMB is still there, it seems like a cluttered and boring menu (still) and there's not much customization compared to say the Xbox 360., No HDMI cable included (Expected, but still disappointing).

"Sony Made a Slim without trimming the great features!"

AntonioSS22, CNET
14 January 2012
  • Summary: I Think that the PS3 Is a very good console. I Will not judge it over the Xbox 360 because everybody has their opinions. But I Will judge Sony, for they will perish to Xbox Users. Why? Sony believes their products should have a 10 year life span. The PS3 Was made in 2006.
  • Pros: Fun, Easy To Use, PSN Membership Is Free, Internet Browser, Online features, Great Sony Exclusive Games, TV/Movie Features are Epic!
  • Cons: Way too many updates in one season, Sometimes Freezes, Bricks when you least expect it, 4.0 Update is a disaster, No PS4 Soon because Sony believes in a 10 Year Life Span. The PS3 Began in 2006.

You Don't get what Yoy pay for

Tim V., Newegg
9 December 2011
  • Summary: And to the above reviewer, unless you have an inside hook-up to the USA, Germany, and Japan manufacturing, chill out. 89% to 93% of ALL goods comes from China, not just Sony products. Just hope nothing you buy is from Thailand.
  • Pros: Blu-ray, free online gaming, reads/play mp4 content(360 don't), native 3d (hdmi 1.4a) playback, the most exclusive titles, and future proof.
  • Cons: For the most advance console Media hub, it doesn't play all video/audio formats. 5 years later, most majority multi-platform games STILL favors the 360 when it comes to performance/graphics, too many system updates/system maintenance checks and the time it takes it to download. Needs more media c...

Great purchase. Original sealed pack

NPrabhu, Rakuten

  • Summary: More Value for the money you pay for this all round entertainment gadget. Only hiccup... It does not play 50Hz BD contents (My experience is with LIFE Blu-ray set UK edition) Though your BD50Hz disc is region free (ie.

Almost All-in-one

Anonymous, Newegg
5 June 2010
  • Summary: Do not be afraid to upgrade your hard drive to a 7200 rpm drive. 16 MB buffer should be sufficient, I would not recommend anything over 32 MB. 32 MB might be just a little too much. That's where you might run into compatibility problems.
  • Pros: I like the fact that it uses a SATA connection for the hard drive. So upgrading to 7200 rpm shouldn't be a problem. 16 MB buffer should be sufficient. At least with the PS 3, you don't have to buy all kinds of accessories just to get things to work. That you can stream/copy your MP3s, videos, pic...
  • Cons: Universal settings for all user accounts. Not having the ability to have custom settings for each user. Here is an example: my brother uses headphones when he plays games. I don't, I use the TV sound. In the settings-sound settings-audio output settings: my brother uses the Audio Input Connector/...

Stopped recognizing Controller Signals

Christopher C., Newegg
15 March 2010
  • Summary: As I said before, INCREDIBLE picture and sound on my system. Should have gotten a PS3 instead of the junk blu-ray player I bought originally and had to service THREE times before I could get rid of it. Aggravating problem with the controller is the only thing I have found wrong with it so far.
  • Pros: Incredible Blu-Ray picture and sound, easy to update, connects wirelessly to the internet. Cool to be able to access the internet from it, easy to navigate the main screen as well.
  • Cons: After three months, however, I had to return it because it stopped working with both the controller and the Logitech Harmony 1 remote through the adapter. No amount of reseting of the controller or reconfiguring of the Harmony 1 would get it to work. Thank goodness I had the replacement plan from...
