Great system until it broke & Sony refuses to fix it.

Excerpt: We bought this PS3 when they originally came out. It was brand new in the box and it worked great until just a few months ago when the games would start freezing. Now we can't play blu rays or anything on it. We called Sony to see if they could replace or repair it and they will but it would cost almost as much as a new one. I wouldn't recommend buying one of these unless you feel like replacing it yearly.
Playstation 3 Would be wonderful if it always worked

Excerpt: Wow talk about a rush, the Playstation 3 can bring hours of heart pounding enjoyment. Now if only it were reliable. I have owned every playstation. They have had the most inovative graphics around. But this Playstation 3 appears to be a bust for your buck. Everyone has heard of someone who's Playstation has zonked out on them. Well guess what here is a gaming mommy who is not, I repeat NOT a happy camper. I saved and saved to get my son the top dog.
Excerpt: My husband got this for his X-mas/B-day present. And unfortunately, it has taken over. He has tried to find games that would interest us both, but they don't come on this player. From what I have seen this a great boy-toy, but otherwise, not much fun. Even running a blu-ray is overly complicated.
The Playstation 3 mini doesn't play all playstation games.

Excerpt: Well the Playstation 3 is something I wanted to get for my son. However I knew that they would come out with a smaller version. Espeacially since the thing was monsterous. So I waited, and waited, and waited. Finally after telling everyone that it would come sooner or later here it came. So I buy it and guess what, only the game that came in the boxed set would work on it. I tell you what my son was so mad that the thing would play his games he already had.
Had to buy the new PS3 because my first-gen PS3 stopped working

Summary: I like the PS3, but I don't like having to buy the same product twice just because the first generation was badly designed. Like countless others, my first PS suffered from overheating Cell processors. Tried to fix it myself via all the stupid tricks posted on Youtube (hair dryers, boxes, etc.), but to no avail. My kids were threatening to hold me hostage unless I replaced it.
Summary: Arrived fine and worked perfectly well, had no issues. Played games, music and DVDs smoothly. However, I bought it in April 2012 and the power supply suddenly died in Sept 2013, less than six months after the warranty on it ended. After diagnosing the problem and attempting to replace the PSU, we've found that the problem cannot be fixed, even by Sony, and all of our saved data is inaccessible.
Summary: Control pad was missing an analog stick . . . Irritating having to splash out almost half the amount I paid for the console on an essential peripheral device. Also, a disturbingly foot shaped dust mark on the bottom of the console . . Didn't really know what to make of it, BUT it Is working in good order. No real harm done.
Summary: I ordered this from Amazon last August and sent it back for a refund due to it making a clicking sound while playing games. I am not sure what it was but Amazon were happy to refund it for me and gave me an extra £30 as an apology. Since then, I have found a better deal on the 500 GB new Slim model.
Summary: The problems really lie with the arrival and set-up of the ps3. First of all, my ps3 was left in my garden by the delivery guy, who had broken an entry into my back garden. When I found it, as he had not left a note, the box was soaking wet because it had been raining most of the day! The contents, despite being slightly wet, were undamaged. Then I proceeded to set-up the ps3. It worked fine, right up to the point where I turned it on. The screen was grey and grainy.
