Sony PlayStation 3 Slim (120GB)

CNET
5 October 2010
  • Summary: With a smaller design, more energy-efficient operation, lower price tag, and built-in Blu-ray and multimedia capabilities, the PS3 Slim delivers a compelling package for an affordable price.
  • Pros: More affordable $299 price; slimmer, more compact design with quieter operation; all games in high-definition; easy-to-use interface; doubles as a Blu-ray and upscaling DVD player; built-in Wi-Fi; 120GB hard drive; HDMI output with 1080p support; no external power supply; built-in Web browser; free online gaming service.
  • Cons: Lacks backward support for PS2 games; no infrared port means non-Bluetooth universal remotes aren't compatible; online gaming, media, and commerce options still aren't as fully developed as Xbox Live, though they're getting better.

Is This The Christmas Console Of The Year?

AskMen.com
11 September 2009
  • Summary: Sony dropped a game-industry bombshell at gamescon in Germany last August when the company revealed the latest PLAYSTATION 3 model, the Slim. The PS3 Slim is lighter, consumes less energy and is cheaper. The PS3 Slim didn't only usher in a new model in Sony’s console line, but it also marked a product-wide price drop for the often fiscally criticized system.

Priced right, the PS3 Slim bundles the top-notch features of its predecessor into a smarter, sleeker package.

Good Gear Guide.au
21 September 2010
  • Summary: With its slicker body and reduced price point, the PlayStation 3 Slim is vastly more enticing than its costly predecessor. As Blu-ray players go, it's pretty hard to beat -- and that's before you even factor in the games. If Microsoft claims it's not worried by the new PS3, it needs to take a closer look. One thing's for sure: the console race just got interesting.
  • Pros: Smaller and lighter, quieter and more energy-efficient
  • Cons: Only two USB ports instead of four, still no backwards compatibility for PS2 games

Sony PlayStation 3 Slim review

expertreviews.co.uk
19 December 2009
  • Excerpt: The new PlayStation 3 (PS3) is an amazing piece of technology. As well as playing Blu-ray discs and games, it has a web browser, can play music, photos and videos from data discs or via a network, lets you copy files to its 120GB hard disk and enables you to chat with friends over the PlayStation network.

Sony PS3 Slim review

Stuff.tv
9 September 2009
  • Summary: The Sony PS3 Slim is the liposuctioned reboot of its multimedia powerhouse console, here to see off its rival – Microsoft’s Xbox 360. It’s around 33 per cent smaller, lighter and more power efficient than its predecessor. But Sony hasn't stripped out any important stuff – the PS3 Slim is pretty much the same machine, with a bigger hard drive, at a better price.
  • Pros: Gorgeous design, Blu-ray player, Smart online extras
  • Cons: Xbox 360 beats it for games, Loses some features from PS3 Chunky

Sony PlayStation 3 Slim

productoreview.com
4 April 2013

Sony PlayStation 3 Slim: neues Design, alte Ausstattung

CNET
24 August 2009
