Summary: When I bought this it said it was used but still good but when I received it, it looked good on the outside but was broken. It wouldn't play any disc, PS, PS2, or DVD tried all three and when checked out found out the laser was fried. I'm not happy that I have to spend more money to fix it.
Summary: Back in '95 when Playstation was released, it was the coolest thing to date. Lighting fast gameplay, sharp graphics, it couldn't get any better. Then, here comes PS2. Even better gameplay, graphics, and features. I've had my PS2 since 2001. It worked fine unti mid-2002. Then I started to get the usual disc-read error, and now, even a brand new game takes ages to get to work. As far as I know, Playstation 2 is a waste of money.
Summary: Let me say first that I own all three SYSTEMS! And am not a fanboy who only likes one friggin console. I just got the PS2 a year ago with GTA 3, MGS 2, Mortal Kombat, and 2 memory cards. Since then I've bought many games like Hit man 2 and Vice City. I loved it, but then it started to freeze and I noticed how dated the graphics are compared to GC and Xbox, that's why I got them.
Summary: i bought my ps2 before the xbox came out, it was great then, but not having much money now, i am stuck with it! Dont make my mistake, and listen and learn why the xbox is better than the ps2! 1 the xbox is made in goodold america, i think, ps2 JAPAN! either way, the xbox is cooler looking, or something... 2 i got sucked into the ps2 because you could play the old ps games on it, but now that i think about it, WHO CARES ABOUT THE STUPID CRAPPY GAMES FROM THE PS!!!
Summary: ok to tip it off i had my ps2 for around 2 and a half years and just last night i went to play it and it made a loud screeching noise and now it wont work.i think most of the games suck and most have bad graphics.there are only like 3or4 games that are worth buying but i dont think that the ps2 is worth the money.i also have a xbox and i like it better because the games actually are fun although there mostly FPS but i think it better than the ps2.when i first bought the...
Summary: Sony has placed an incredibly cheap, essential part in their PS2s. I've heard that they've since placed *somewhat* better laser readers in their consoles. I've read very far into this, and it sounds to me that the readers fry up and need to be replaced around three years after purchase. Forget your warranty, you're going to have to spend your own money on a piece of pricey hardware that needs fixing. I guess taking such good care of my PS2 really wasn't worth it.
Summary: I enjoyed my PS2 when it was first launched, but in 2003 it's reached a point where I think both the GameCube and XBox have overshadowed the PS2 on every level - including game libraries. Even worse, everyone I know is now experiencing serious malfunctions with their PS2s - especially the ones who use it to play DVDs (which they shouldn't because the PS2 has horrible DVD image and playback qualities).
Summary: I don't see the appeal of this system. The games look terribly out-dated, the DVD-player isn't very good and the controllers (same feel as the original PlayStation controllers) are absolutely awful. The analog sticks are nice, but the buttons are mushy and the digital pad is a fighter fan's nightmare. For multiplayer games, you need to buy a 4-player adapter, as the console only has 2 controller ports.
