Sony PlayStation 2 is capable to read CDs and DVDs and also allows backward compatible with PlayStation games. Besides games, it enables to play movies from DVDs. It supports PlayStation memory cards to save games and controllers. In addition, it introduces DualShock 2 controller which features analogue face, shoulder and D-pad buttons. Also, the DualShock 2 controller features force feedback, which is commonly called the ‘vibration’ function. Its memory card has an 8MB capacity and utilizes Sony’s MagicGate encryption. Also, it features USB and IEEE 1394 expansion ports. With Network Adapter, it enables players to play online multiplayer. Sony PlayStation 2 is built with "Emotion Engine" clocked at 294.912 MHz (299 MHz on newer versions) with 10.5 million transistors as its CPU; 32 MB(32 × 220 bytes) Direct Rambus or RDRAM; 3.2 gigabytes per second of memory bus; MIPS R5900 CPU core, 64 bit, little endian (mipsel) as its main processor; FPU co-processor; and VU0 and VU1 (Floating Point Multiply Accumulator × 9, Floating Point Divider × 1), 32-bit, at 150 MHz. There are three editions of PlayStation 2 as it went through several updates and revisions including its original case design; slim design which smaller, thinner and quiter than the older versions and includes a built-in Ethernet port; and PSX which is capable to be used as a digital video recorder and DVD burner.

Having had the opportunity to play with a PlayStation 2 for some time, specifically to test its DVD playback capabilities, it falls definitely into the games console that can play DVDs classification. well i had the original ps2 (the big black one) for 2years. but because it is now so poor at reading, it can only read damaged games. it is the same story with this one. it is 2years old and yet again i have started haveing reading problems. you clean the lense with a dry c.d. or dvd cleaner. but you will only get about 6mounths bofore cleaning the lense dosen't make any difrence. memory cards are quite expensive. the dvd player is infact quite poor to my sony dvd player... Fun: In my concern ps2 is way better than ps3...... i bought my big ps2 when i was 8,,, like i was pretty stupid at that age, i broke it.... then one year later i bought the slim when i was 9 and for almost 4 years (in christmas) its been working perfectly...... Im a videogame fan so i play nonstop, like im in vacations i play from 10am to 1 am,,,,,,,, great game station, i got 90 games!, u should buy one of these...... Read more
" This is a GREAT console. it doesn't look like the one in the picture above, its a little more glossy black on the left side but looks better than the on in the picture above.
