Summary: The N64 was the last console to not use discs, and the sight of a cartridge sticking out the top of a console is long gone never to return. Yet a cartridge held excitement (and still) does: a cartridge could only mean school was over and gaming time was here! The main thing going for the N64 was the amazing Goldeneye, which me and some friends actually got out a few months ago and still had a blast on.
Pros: Goldeneye Goldeneye Goldeneye Goldeneye Goldeneye....and the wonderful sight of a cartridge!
Summary: I looked forward to getting the N64 with great enthusiasm. I played the demos in the shops amd was over-awed by the quality of graphics, gameplay and sheer addictiveness of the thing. "It'll be my birthday AND Xmas present," I said as I pleaded my father to buy the console. Sure enough, on its very first day out, I was the proud owner of the Nintendo 64 and game Super Mario 64.
Pros: Graphics, Timeless games
Cons: There aren't that many timeless games, cartridges not cds
Summary: I have never owned an N64, but I currently wn a Playstation and I did own a SNES. The N64 was eagerly awaited after the worldwide success of the SNES which was revolutionary in its time. But the N64 was never considered as ground-breaking as the SNES. Don't get me wrong it is a great package but it has a few flaws.
Summary: The N64 is an alright console. The type of games I think are aimed at little children who enjoy cartoony games and funny characters. The console doesnt have the best range of games you can get. The N64 is missing a few good Action/Adventure games and most importantly RPGs which have been a massive success for other consoles. The cartridges cannot hold as much information as a cd so the games are often smaller.
Pros: Good Graphics and has good multiplayer games
Summary: Over the past few years the N64 has gone from excellent to great to good to average to poor. Now why is this? It is not because of the graphics, sound or play it is because of the dreamcast (not brilliant) and the PLaystation 2 (not great). Which now are falling through the market because of the fierce competition. Soon there will be even more competition with the X box coming out and the Nintendo cube.
Summary: Games are too expensive (down side of cartridges), graphics are looking dated. There are only a select core of dedicated developers who produce decent games (which are all beginning to look the same anyway), further more their progress is being stifled by the stringent contracts they have signed mith Nintendo, and Nintendo's maniacal desire to control all thier developers (hence the recent departure of most of the Rare team to form thier own company).
Summary: When I first got this console, I was impressed. The first game I got with this console is Mario64, my first thought was the graphics on this machine is amazing. I was amazed on how they got these graphics on the cartiage based machine. Because the Sony playstation and Sega saturn both used Cd's and the graphics on that console was very good. What even blew me away on Mario64, was the sound. My gosh it was unbelivable.
Summary: OK, so the N64 is a great console in many people's eyes but I do not think that Nintendo aim the console at adults - it is by far the most child based console around, and although it has such classics like Perfect Dark and Goldeneye, it really doesn't have many serious games. Just take a look at how many Mario orientated games there are: Mario Golf, Mario 64, Mario Kart, mario Tennis, Mario Party etc etc..
Summary: N64 is old. It uses large, expensive cartirages. Another bad thing about it is that it dosen't tale advantage of is graphical ability. I have seen many psx games look better that many n64 games. Nentendo brags about thier system having such a graphical advantage over ps, but it dosen't show that(well it does in 4 games). One big advantage it has over ps is that it has 4 controler ports. But still ps and dc are better.
Summary: I think that The Nintendo 64 has bad games except for the following exceptions. Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Mario Cart. All three of these are mutiplayer games and are great entertainment for a group of four mates. All of them are addictive and great fun. The four player format on this console would be the only reason I would buy it.
