Review: New Nintendo 3DS XL is 3D worth playing

CNET
1 February 2015
  • Summary: The massively improved 3D more than makes up for a relatively small list of updates and some frustrating design choices.
  • Pros: The 3D screens are improved by new face-tracking, and the larger size offers a less cramped viewing experience. Internal tweaks and updates add a behind-the-scenes boost.
  • Cons: The poor battery life hasn't improved. Having to remove the back of the console to change the SD card is a poor design choice, and the XL doesn't get the fun interchangeable faceplates.

Nintendo 3DS XL review

GameZone
26 August 2012
  • Excerpt: We all saw it coming. The original 3DS hadn't even been on the market for more than a few months when gamers everywhere were already predicting a revised version of the handheld. A few individuals such as myself were actually waiting for a new 3DS model. The Big N told us it wouldn't come anytime soon, and it marked down the price tag on the original. Oh, but Nintendo, you sly devil, I was on to your trickery from day one, so I, like many others, waited.

Review: Nintendo 3DS XL

Wired
15 August 2012
  • Excerpt: In early 2010, when Nintendo’s DSi handheld game machine was racking up record-breaking sales, the Kyoto gamemaker introduced an unexpected new model, the DSi XL . It was a classic example of Nintendo zigging where others zagged; as its competitors raced to make handheld gaming smaller and smaller, Nintendo increased its screens to giant size, sacrificing pure portability to create a more impressive gaming experience and a larger touch-screen input area.

Hardware Review - Nintendo 3DS XL

Game.ie
13 August 2012
  • Summary: Following Nintendo’s announcement that the 3DS would be receiving an extra large upgrade back in June of this year, there had been much speculation about just what the 3DS XL would offer to newcomers and owners of the original 3DS system alike. With no Circle Pad Pro integrated into the system, and concerns over the battery life of any new device, it’s fair to say that we were quite skeptical as to whether or not it would prove to be a worthwhile upgrade.

Review: Zelda - A Link Between Worlds is a wondrous whirlpool of nostalgia

CVG
14 November 2013
  • Summary: Zelda's latest 3DS title is in every sense a link to the past. Its world mirrors the 1991 SNES classic with the same scenery, a familiar top-down perspective, old foes and even sound effects that are tinged with nostalgia.
  • Pros: Nostalgic overworld with a new perspective, Among 2D Zelda's best dungeons & bosses, Brilliant use of 3D, Incredible soundtrack & presentation

Nintendo 3DS XL [Test]

Blogue de Geek
9 September 2012
