Nintendo Game Boy Color is a fifth generation handheld game console developed by Nintendo. It is the successor to the Game Boy Pocket in the Game Boy line and it features a colour screen and is slightly thicker and taller than the Game Boy Pocket. It was released on October 21, 1998 in Japan and in November 19, 1998 in North America and November 23, 1998 in Europe.

Features

The Game Boy Color displays 32,768 possible colours, 56 simultaneous colours with 160x140 resolutions to the 44 x 39mm screen, along with twice the processing power of its monochrome sibling. There are varieties of games developed to accompany Game Boy Color including platformers, puzzle games, shoot-’em-ups and strategy which sums over 800 titles to choose from. In addition, there are various model colours produced namely Purple, Green, Blue, Yellow, Clear Purple and a Special Edition Pokémon Game Boy Color. It is built with 8-bit Z80 as its CPU and its memory consists of 32 Kbyte with 96 Kbyte VRAM (in CPU) and 256 Kbyte WRAM (external of CPU) as its memory. IT measures 75 mm x 27 mm x 133 mm in dimensions and weighs 138g. It needs two AA batteries for power supply which is capable to allow 10 hours. Accessories developed to be used together with Nintendo Game Boy Color including Game Boy Link Cable, Game Boy Camera, Game Boy Printer, Game Boy Printer paper and Transfer Pak.

    Overall is a very good product. The battery like is excellent and the game section is good. I love TETRIS and can play it for hours on end. Love to take it on flights, make the time pass very quick. The size is ideal for putting in pocket and just being on the go. Read more

    It's been a long time since mom and dad bought me this Game Boy, but I borrow it sometimes from my brother and I still play it and I still like it. The console is light and easy to carry. You can also find it in almost any possible colours you want. In those days, there were loads of games available, but there was a weak point. They were very expensive.     Unfortunately with todays excellent quality graphics new users may not be impressed with the gameboy console. The original gameboy is in black and white so to speak and the later gameboy colour has colour in the games. As I grew up with this console I absolutely love it and although I now have a nintendo DS I will never part with mine.
