Received 3rd-party knockoffs

Thomas Z., Newegg
1 October 2013
  • Summary: I ordered OEM Wii controllers (white), and received 3rd-party "Shiro" controllers (black). Deceitful seller - steer clear.
  • Pros: Only one of the two boxes was crushed.
  • Cons: When ordering what is clearly advertised as an official, white Nintendo Wii controller (the picture clearly says 'Wii' on the remote), I am prone to extreme displeasure when I receive black, 3rd-party "Shiro" remotes. Very deceitful seller. I wonder how there are so many good reviews before mine?

Broke on arrival, sent to Nintendo for replacement

Shawn H., Newegg
16 April 2010
  • Summary: While NewEgg are great people when it comes to customer service, Nintendo really bent-over backwards to solve the problem.
  • Pros: It gave me a second player remote so I can play House of the Dead: Overkill on my Wii. All cons not addressed below worked okay.
  • Cons: On arrival, the A button was sticking and the Wiimote speaker did nothing but produce static. Called Nintendo (as my Wii system was still under warranty), and sent it back for a replacement that worked fine.

  • Summary: Mine came with an extra screw. Apparently one got loose during assembly and fell inside the remote. I heard something rattling around and opened the batter compartment and found and extra screw. No screws appear to be missing. The A button takes more pressure to compress than my other remote and the B button clicks when pressed. Also the 4 blue leds seem brighter.
  • Pros: Works fine, no real problems. Build quality is the same as the one that came with my Wii.
  • Cons: Lanyard is slightly shorter than my OEM remote and the included grip isn't as finely finished as it could be. See other thoughts.

  • Summary: If you decide to order these controllers though newegg make sure that you keep the boxes or you may end up on the phone for ever with Nintendo as I did.
  • Pros: Fast shipping cheaper than local game store.
  • Cons: Bought two controllers and two nun-chucks(which worked fine). Neither controller worked with my Wii. They would not work with my Wii zapper. Tried to return them to Newegg and was told that I could not because I no longer had the retail packaging. I was able to return them through Nintendo and my replacements worked fine. I notice a difference in the color of the house on the home button and a slight difference in the battery compartment. As I said neither of these co...

  • Summary: N/A
  • Pros: Does what was expected and desired. Needed the extra remote - so where else to go? Good price and shipping costs.
  • Cons: None so far.

  • Summary: Item does not act as though it's new from the factory. I've never seen a Wii remote act this way.
  • Pros: Lights and buttons appear to function.
  • Cons: Infrared almost completely dead, speaker incapable of volume control.
