Summary: We thought this would be a nice accessory for the family to have, and it is. However it is not a must. There are plenty of games to enjoy without having the Kinect. It is expensive! Also, we have it in the game room, but the actual console is in our media closet. The TV is on a wall in the gameroom. You must connect the console to the Kinect. We had to purchase a very long USB cable in order to do this. Wished it was wireless.
Summary: The kids had to try this out for the xbox. It takes alot of patients and skill to work this thing. Just when you get it to where you want it and get the kids playing a game and step out of the room for a minute. The whole thing crashes - very fustrating.
A little disappointing after the novelty wears off.

Summary: The Kinect was a pretty revolutionary piece of equipment when it was first launched and I was beside myself with excitement to try it out when it was first released. However after two weeks or so the novelty completely wore off. One issue is the amount of space you need to play a game properly and I got a bit sick of moving the furniture about every time I wanted a game. Having said that it is very responsive to little movements which makes it much better than the Wii.
Pros: Much more responsive than the Wii.
Cons: Does not understand a lot of movements and takes a lot of set up.
Summary: When the Kinect came out it was an exciting moment, it's a controller that makes it possible to play a game using yourself to control the players on the game, so we brought one and then the problems started. We did not think to check whether you needed to be a certain distance from the kinect in order for it to work but it turns out you do. You need to be 6ft away from the Kinect in order for it to work.
Microsoft Kinect: I wish it would "kinect" quicker!
28 April 2011
Summary: Surrounded by a totally male household we seem to have quite a few games consoles. My favourite is the Wii but my boyfriend prefers the x box. When the Kinect came out we were both pretty excited about the next stage in motion gaming where the Kinect has no buttons but works on voice and motion control. We bought the Kinect to use with our old 360 machine.
Summary: So I finally tested out the Kinect with friends last night, playing the Adventures game. The device itself is sleek, black and takes up very little space. We balanced it on top of a plasma tv without any issues (obviously I'm not recommending this and you'll pick the best spot for you :) ) We only played the games one by one. Due to the size of the room we were in the Kinect needed us to move back to pick up both players and we just didnt have the space.
Pros: Can give you a real good workout whatever you play
Cons: Loses you mid-game and doesn't always pause to recalibrate. You need a big room to use multiplayer.
Microsoft Kinect: Kinect: Revolutionary Frustration!
22 December 2010
Summary: Introduction There is no doubt in my mind, that Microsoft's 'Kinect' is technologically the most advanced hardware to be released for public consumption, probably ever, or at least the only one with a reasonable price tag! A bold claim, yes, but unlike other sophisticated hardware, the ability to provide 'full-body 3D motion-capture, facial recognition and voice recognition' along with many other things, can only be used to flail around a room...
Microsoft Kinect: Great intentions! so close to being the true gaming package. ...
15 November 2010
Summary: Ok i will just start with the fact that i reckon that this will be a huge hit for christmas. With the amount of xbox owners and the love of the nintendo wii i think it was obvious that the other big two of the gaming world would try there hand at getting gamers out of there seats. So obviously a decent review is needed here! so people can truely know if its worth the hype and ultimately worth buying.
Pros: No controls, completely body controlled and very accurate
Cons: There is a bit of lag and the release games are pretty dull, oh and the price!
