Summary: I've been gaming for about 15 years now. In that amount of time I've purchased 5 of this particular joystick. they'll only last a year before something stops it from functioning correctly (cheap potometers, plastic parts, slamming against wall in frustration, etc.. My biggest gripe with Logitech is the statement about it being compatible with Windows 7. It's not! And I dare anybody to tell me that they are able to get the Profler to run under Windows 7!
Summary: solid base, easy set up, they don't sell replacement parts. the twist for flying wears out. If you plan on doing a lot of flying, or using the twist a lot, spend a few more bucks for a better unit. This a good starter to see if you want to invest in a better stick.
Pros: Comfortable, accurate stick with a nice feel and plenty of well-laid-out buttons
Cons: Absolutely shoddy quality - Logitech uses the cheapest potentiometers known to man. The first one I bought broke within a month and I returned it. The second one lasted a further 2, and was replaced under warranty. The third one just failed after minimal use and a period of storage. Almost all failures are the twist axis or the left/right axis potentiometers, which render the joystick all but useless.
Summary: When I first got the 3D Pro (October 2005) I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. It had a lot of buttons (more than I needed) and it had all the features at a price thatw as well within my budget. I recommended it to all my friends and got at least 3 to buy it. About 6 months after he got it, the first of my friends to follow me started having trouble with rudder function and we just thought it was a problem with FS2004.
Summary: very compfortable, great price for the product, however is it worth it if you have to replace it a few months down the road? MAJOR calibration issues, very accurate when it is calibrated but it falls out of calibration quickly. It broke with time and the right rudder no longer works. I love the stability of it with the large base. the buttons feel great. the throttle could use some work. I am left with mixed feelings which still bug me. Will I buy another?
Pros: When I first bought it, it was the best thing since sliced bread for air combat with it's excelent linear accuracy...when i first bought it that is.
Cons: A few months down the road there came calibration issues. Over sensitive, breathe on it and it jumps all over the place. twist right rudder no longer works for me, it just twitches.
Summary: I read reviews about this joystick both good and bad and still went ahead, took a chance and ended up wasting my money on it. On the first day use, it had lost it's calibration to the right as others have already mentioned before. I found a quick fix to get back calibration was in mid-game, to quickly remove and reinsert the USB plug and it would be good for about 10 more minutes before the right lean would go again. What a hassle.
Summary: When I ordered this item it was advertised as suitable for windows and Mac in reality it is not mac compliant. The advertising was changed. It looked alright but of course not use it. Retuned and refund with no quibble.
