Summary: bought this fridge 18 months ago, recently it started to create a sheet of ice followed by a gunk of ice on the coils followed by a faulty starter which whirlpool knows about and makes it nearly impossible to find the part.
Summary: A year and a half old, and like others, the freezer on the bottom works but every couple of months the top gets warm, to about 58 degrees. My husband is handy and after watching local appliance repairman defrost the ice on the evaporatior coils he can do it himself.
Summary: I bought this fridge 3 and 1/2 years ago and I'm very happy with it. With this bottom freezer model, it's much easier to see what's in my fridge when all the food is near eye level and now I don't have the problems I used to with food that goes bad and has to be thrown out because it "hides" in...
Summary: Have had this refrigerator for approximately two years. The freezer leaks onto the floor and has actually ruined a hardwood floor. I have to chop the ice on the bottom of freezer daily in order to avoid the problem.
Summary: We've only had this refrigerator for about a month so I can't comment on the quality, but it does appear to be nice. It is very quiet and looks great. My only complaint about the bottom freezer is how much space the drawer system takes up.
Summary: "The refrigerator meets all our expectations. The upper unit allows quick access to items and stops having to bend over and search for items. The freezer unit with the pull out drawer allows for quick removal of needed items."
Summary: I bought this refrigerator May 28th 2011. For several months it worked well but then we started noticing droplets of water, ice and eventually a sheet of ice covering the very bottom of the freezer compartment.
Summary: After 18 months, my refrigerator drain froze up and dumped water into the floor of the freezer which froze in a sheet of ice. It then partially thawed periodically and leaked water out the front onto the floor. Yes, I did not buy an extended warranty contract for this refrigerator.
Update: Whining noise seems to have stopped - so far, so good
19 August 2012
Summary: This is an update, on Sept. 4, 2012: The original, high pitched whine that was terribly annoying has ceased. The only unusual noise now is an occasional clicking sound, attributed to expansion. Otherwise, the refrigerator has quieted down nicely, and is performing well.
Summary: "I am very pleased with my Whirlpool bottom freezer. It is better than I hoped it would be. It is very spacious and the doors all open and shut well. I took about two years to finally decide to replace my 25 year old Whirlpool refridgerator that was such a workhorse that I never had a repairperson...
