This is a good refrigerator, but it has a serious design flaw

A Reader, Amazon
19 July 2014
  • Summary: I purchased this refrigerator in May 2014. I chose it because it was the highest-rated (by Consumer Reports) refrigerator that had the required dimensions and that did not have a water dispenser in the door - a feature I did not want. I like this refrigerator. It fits the available space nicely, and it looks nice. it is not noisy. However, I do not love it.

Water continually fills the vegetable drawer

L. Joann Paul "JPaul", Amazon
16 March 2014
  • Summary: We read the reviews after purchasing and after water began collecting in the vegetable drawer. We took the entire back off the unit and thawed out the line. It worked for about 3 days and then water began collecting again. IN addition the ice maker in the freezer compartment only worked for about 2 weeks. There is no help or recourse for this terrible product.

Poor Quality & Product Support

David Lorenzo, Amazon
25 February 2014
  • Summary: I have a Samsung Refrigerator which is just over 5 yrs old and needed to be repaired out of warranty. The freezer door on the actual refrigerator never really closed properly as I always had to give it an extra push to make it seal properly. After a while the problem seemed to get worse as the door at times would reamin slightly open causing food spoilage and high electric bills. I will admit I am getting older as I am a retired on a fixed income and age is settling in.

Major defrost problem leaves fridge section warm

M. Caselli, Amazon
30 August 2013
  • Summary: This unit came in our newly renvoated condo, so I didn't make the purchase myself. A little more than a year after we moved in, I noticed the refrigerator section was not cooling (though the control panel still showed 36*F, the temp as measured was more like 56*F). Some online research showed that this model has a known issue with icing of the fresh food evaporator. Sure enough, this is the issue we were experiencing.

Love it!

cat, Amazon
26 August 2013
  • Summary: Coming up on the 1yr. mark, there is nothing I don't like about this fridge. I've had several over the yrs., including Kenmore, Frigidaire, GE, and others. Except for the Kenmore which lasted about 18yrs., the others were crap. I did experience the buzzing noise the first couple of days and called the service people, who very quickly realized I had the Ice Off power button ON, when in fact the ice maker was not hooked up yet.

Jury still out!

Rosemary Moore, Amazon
3 July 2013
  • Summary: Theis refrigerator was highly rated by consumer reports. We are disappointed by an ominous loud buzzing sound that happens frequently as yet undiagnosed. The middle shelf has three level options but is only supported in the back on the middle option. This means you can't but half gallons will only fit when it is using lowest option. The cheese drawer often sticks when opened all the way.

Samsung 197

PJC, Amazon
25 June 2013
  • Summary: I purchased this refrigerator less than two months ago and it has turned into a nightmare. It makes popping sounds, runs loudly probably 60% of the time, vibrates, etc. You can hear the noises even upstairs in my home. Had Standard TV and Appliance who sold me this lemon come and inspect, they refused to do anything and won't return calls.

Not a refrigerator for cooks or foodies

haes "haes", Amazon
24 June 2013
  • Summary: We bought this refrigerator because it cost significantly less than comparable French Door, bottom freezer refrigerators. In this case, you get what you pay for... which is to say, we should have spent the extra money. 1) Others have said this, but I will reiterate: this refrigerator is VERY limited in terms of how tall anything can be. You must use the doors for anything as tall as a gallon of milk.

  • Summary: "I am quite pleased with this purchasing experience. I researched on line and found the product I wanted. Not available locally to look at, so I took the leap and ordered sight unseen and from two states away! It arrived safe and unscratched a few days later. I was ready when it arrived, including modifying the cabinet above for the increased clearance needed. I did this based on dimension data found online. Whew!
  • Pros: I will call this ``counter-top depth``, my first concern in product choice. Save your back, the Freezer on the bottom is the way to go.
  • Cons: And yes it`s true you must be patient and wait 24 hrs for the first ice cube to drop, like an expectant parent.
