Summary: I've had this refrigerator for about 6 1/2 years. And within the first 4 years we replaced the following; motherboard - twice The condenser A door The seales on the other door Ice maker - 3 times The motor Look at the list and you will notice that 4 times this unit has quit working and with a family of 4 there was plenty of food that was affected. Each time we had to have a broken fridge party and cook and eat everything inside.
Summary: I have had this fridge for just over a year now. I initially bought it because I had limited space; was restricted in width and also depth, hence needed a French door model to make sure I had enough clearance. I will also disclose that I am a GE employee (not the appliance division) and hence the employee discount was also very relevant in this decision. On the whole, I have had no real issues with this model.
Summary: I've owned this fridge for a month and have had the repairman out twice to replace the same part. The separator between the french doors breaks away from the left door. Either the plastic piece they use to secure it to the door is too weak or the latch spring is too strong.
Summary: This is for anyone considering purchasing the G.E. brand. I bought a new house 4 years ago and the builder included all G.E. appliance for free. Refrigerator, microwave, stove top, oven, diswasher, washer and dryer. Beautiful Stainless steel new appliances. The dryer broke on day one and the builder replaced it. The dishwasher was recalled for starting fires, but worst of all has been the refrigerator. I've had it for slightly less than 4 years.
Excerpt: I helped my neice to purchase this refrigerator. I was visiting from California, and she really had her eyes on this one and she just loves it. It is the perfect size, height and so much room. So easy to access her food items. The only regret I have is that we need a Brandsmart in California. I am waiting to do my shopping here. Thanks for a great appliance.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy Access, Energy Efficient, Holds Temperature Well, Quiet, Space For Tall Items
Summary: Ridiculous! We've had one of thse for about 6 months. Over this period the doors haven't been fully closed four times, and no-one heard the "door alarm" (in at least two cases it had mysteriously turned itself "off"). And guess what: the intense tungsten bright interior lights (indeed Edison's 125 y/o old discovery) remain on. These 2 high intensity bulbs dump at least 50 watts of heat into the interior for as long as the doors remain even slightly open.
Summary: i think the title says it all. I've had to have the main computer board replaced 3 times and the problem keeps coming back. i've only had this fridge 2 years. shopping for a new fridge right now.
Summary: Never had GE before, but this frig had to be returned in 2 months. Icemaker went out, drawer rails had to be replaced, defrost regulator went out, water line had to be replaced. Obviously it wasn't built correctly or this product is poor quality. It does look good and the outside was easy to remove fingerprints off the stainless steel, but i need to keep my food cold. It is the first time i bought a cheaper model that has some finer features.
Pros: look good, easy to clean, big shelves
Cons: Low quality, Not durable, freezer door, cheap ice maker
