Ice maker needs defrosting to compensate for poor design.

Summary: I bought this refrigerator in October 2010 for $2,390. It works, but this refrigerator sells for a premium price and is not a premium refrigerator, especially the ice making capability. As many others have pointed out in their reviews, the ice maker often quits making ice. The problem comes from the ice maker not always detecting when the bin is full so additional ice gets jammed up in the mechanical mechanism and no more ice is made.
Summary: This review is approaching a "glowing" status. It definitely presents the negatives in a positive light. I would like to add a few points to the issues around this product. These comments come from an owner of this product with two years of experience seen using this fridge. 1) We regularly clean the exterior with SS cleaner. After one year of owning it, rust has developed on the SS portion of the doors. The rust is not in a area near the water and ice dispenser.
Summary: I've had Bosch appliances for years, and used to have a very strong belief in their product line. If you purchased Bosch goods 10 or so years back, then you probably own a true, German made item. From my understanding, Bosch has since created a manufacturing plant here in the States, where there just isn't the same commitment to excellence in standards.
2 Years Later I wouldn't buy it again - Ice maker broke, front is rusting, LOUD alarm

Summary: We put in my dream kitchen 2 years ago and bought the Bosch Dishwasher, Fridge, and Dual Fuel Range at that time. We went with Bosch because they had decent reviews and I really wanted a duel fuel range and they weren't that common at our price point. I had never had an in-the-door ice-make and was looking forward to that feature. Within about 6 months I noticed plastic shavings in our ice.
Excerpt: My husband and I had been so tickled with the Bosch dishwasher that we purchased a Bosch microwave (and love it), so we thought we would do Bosch all the way around. This was the next item we purchased. Unfortunately, the 'cabin' of the frig wouldn't cool below 44 degrees and the ice production was almost non existent. This frig is very stylish but she did not live up to her billing. We sent her back and are happy with that decision.
Pros: Adjustable Shelving, Attractive Design, Door Shuts Securely, Quiet
Summary: Bought this unit in Spring 2010 when I did a complete kitchen remodel to make the kitchen of my dreams. Have had nothing but trouble with the Ice Maker from the first month after it was installed. To date, ice maker system totally replaced 3 times, with replacements of other individual parts of the ice maker system on the other service calls.
Summary: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037X9990/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title Have this model since March 2012. I agree with most of the negative comments regarding the door alarm, opening both doors to get to the drawers. What really has me annoyed almost wished I did not go with stainless is that the stainless steel surface is not resiliant to hairline scratces. My fridge looks lousy so we have to cover up the scratches with kids pictures.
Summary: We thought that we were buying a well-engineered product but were disappointed from day one. The ice maker is dreadfully slow. Even with the "Quick Ice" feature enabled, it only produces about enough cubes for two glasses of iced tea in 48 hours. I've had to go back to buying ice by the bag at the grocery store. The touch-pad buttons for the water and ice dispensers on the door are not very responsive, either.
