Summary: This fridge has frozen up between the freezer and fridge multiple times. (Freezer I'd cold, fridge is warm.) Needs to be fully defrosted which then leaks water all over since the drain pan is NOT removable. The last time although I though I had all the water I was mistaken and it continued to leak and ruined my real hardwood flooring.
Summary: Compressor went bad after only 14 months. A $1,300 repair - which is more than the fridge cost in the first place. Maytag does not cover this under warranty for this model and many other models. Never buying maytag again.
Summary: I chose this product based on the reviews and how it matched our requirements. It works great and looks great. The ice maker was a snap to hook up. The shelves are easily adjustable. This product exceeds our expectations. We have had it for 6 months and it has worked fine. A great product.
Control Panel Failed Unit Less Than Three Years Old
31 August 2013
Summary: Well, this looked like a good buy. But the control panel just failed, $400 for the new panel and two technician visits on a unit that is not quite three years old. The refrigerator is stuck on high, with no way to adjust it. I expected better from this maker so I did not buy the extended warranty (which in my experience vendors rarely honor, usually citing some technicality). I wonder how long this $400 fix will last? My next refrigerator will NOT be a Maytag.
Summary: I just have to make sure the door closes all the way, if you don't the door won't close by it self, without a good push. The service was great, they were here on time and removed the old heavy refrigerator, for such a small fee.
Pros: Attractive Design, Customizable Shelving, Easy Access, Holds Temperature Well, Quiet, Space For Tall Items
Two Years Old - Repairs Cost Half The Price of Refrigerator
B. R. Meyer, Amazon
30 July 2013
Summary: TWO YEARS OLD - REPAIRS COST HALF THE PRICE OF REFRIGERATOR After only two years, the unit died (electronic control board, plus...). The cost of repairs was over half the original cost of the refrigerator. Only 90 day guarantee on the repairs but the Maytag repair contractor will be happy to sell you insurance for a few hundred dollars extra. Oh, and parts needed to be ordered - so a month without a refrigerator.
Summary: I bought this refrigerator from Home Depot in July of 2012. In June of 2013 it stopped cooling. I called the repair people and the service technician told me there is a design flaw in all bottom freezer refrigerators. The refrigerant line corrodes because it's exposed to too much moisture and the freon leaks out. Anyhow, they have to replace the condenser, evaporator and refrigerant line. My refrigerator is still under warranty.
