Summary: Our GE (made by Samsung) was purchased in Aug of '08 while moving into a new house. Pros: Good looking, good storage space and features, keeps consistent temps. Cons: 1). The compressor motor was not plugged into the wiring harness at the factory, so it took two weeks for GE to send somebody out to fix. Luckily we were moving in from out of town so didn't lose any food or $. 2). The ice maker died last summer and took out the main motherboard with it.
Summary: We bought this fridge 2 years ago and its still working fine. Its obvious that the ice maker is bad. Ours works fine, but this is our first fridge with a built in ice maker. So we have no other fridges to compare it with. In our area the service on it has been great. We installed the fridge and found out it wasnt working. A GE pro came and changed the motherboard out. It has been working fine ever since.
Summary: We purchased our first and last GE appliance. We liked the design of our GE Profile French Door with freezer drawer below. However, it has been a problem since we've owned it. It is only 4 years old, first expense was an element within the ice maker. This at a cost of $200.00. And now we have we have had a tech out to repair a major defrost issue, along with the freezer staying at a steady 40 degrees.
Summary: I purchased a GE Profile and had nothing but problems. 5 service calls and now it's completely out at Christmas. Only 2 years old. I bought an extended warranty but GE won't come out in the agreed time frame. Very cheap parts, ice maker drops ice all over the floor, many broken parts, freezes food in refrigerator. I give it 1 star because it looks nice.
Summary: Purchased a GE french door refrigerator in Jan. 2010. Since then, we have lost a whole freezer full of meat beacause the compressor shut off when we were out of town. This has happened several times since, but luckily we were home at those times. I'M having a repairman look at it today because it happened again this morning. Also, the water line freezes every two weeks to where I have to get a hair dryer to unfreeze it. The ice maker sensor is broke, as well.
Summary: The GE Profile refrigerator we have has failed every 2 to 5 years (3 times so far). The PTCR Relay burns-up so the compressor will not function until the Relay is replaced. You can do it yourself but it costs over $100 to have a service call. The ice maker failed after a couple of years as well. Be careful.
Summary: we have a GE PFSS6PKXASS bottom Freezer - purchased 2008, replace the ice maker last year, because it was knocking and not making ice. Now it leaks because the shielding in the back freezes and is a poor design. Having the repairman had a heater to the pipes so it doesn't freeze and clog. Repairman said if you remove the back cover inside the frig it will rip out the pips that are stuck on the styrofoam.
Summary: We bought this refrigerator because it was on sale and because of the roominess of the model. However, I would not recommend this to anyone. The doors tend to not close completely with a gentle close motion so you have to make sure you solidly close it and the ice maker is very, very noisy. Also, the ice maker is very slow.
Summary: We have always purchased Kenmore appliances, very happy with them. Built our dream house and wanted to go upscale. Our GE Profile fridge is terrible. Just 4 years old and ice maker is broken for the second time. And this is NOT an in the door ice maker either. The seal on the freezer drawer had to be replaced (which required two trips by the repairman for some reason). My husband gave GE hell over this but they don't seem to care. Wish I had read the reviews.
