Summary: I bought this freezer 2 1/2 years ago and it is ready for the garbage. Because i went over the 18 mos warranty (by 6 mos....) they won't do anything for me. The freezer stopped working and the authorized serviceman said it is too costly to attempt to fix. Nice... and they sure do stand by their products ! not ! I won't be buying another Danby anything and I suggest you steer clear also.
Summary: 2nd unit craps out. 2nd time losing food. not sure costco will replace it this time (over a year) NOT sure I want to have to deliver and pick up another unit that will last a ridiculously short amount opt time Danby... What the Hell! ps... m y one relaxed evening at home... figuring out how to save all my food.... THANKS!
Summary: Completely died after 3 weeks! Entire freezer full of food destroyed. Offered to replace with new freezer but I would have to haul the broken one upstairs and haul the new replacement back down the basement. Their shipping only delivers to the garage or front porch. They don't replace or cover your lost items even though it was due to a defective freezer.
Summary: Because it's such a large item, Amazon shipped it with a shipping company instead of usual couriers (understandable). After a lot of calls with them to find an appropriate time, we received it. We wait a day after receiving to plug it in (something I was always told is to not plug in a fridge/freezer right after moving, for some reason). Anyway, plug it in next day and wait a full day for everything to get to normal temperature.
Summary: I bought this freezer 2 months ago because it was the right size to fit down my narrow stairwell into my basement. Last week it stop working suddenly with no warning or alarm (only 2 months old!) and I lost everything inside ($300 worth of food)! My wife is pregnant and is due in a few weeks and we lost everything we had been making when the baby arrived. NOTE: Danby policy does not cover lost food and their customer service department sucks.
Summary: This freezer fits anywhere! It was purchased as a gift and has been well used and appreciated. Our children have been so happy with this freezer that we plan to buy another one for our other children who will be buying a home soon. When I say it fits anywhere, it was first installed in a spare closet. When they decided that was not convenient, they easily moved it into a corner of the kitchen.
