Summary: I can't recommend this product, yet. I ordered the Danby 4.2 cu. ft freezer to be delivered to my home. The box was mangled, it had a 4" hole on one side and the support straps were not on the box properly. After opening the box, we noticed that the top of the freezer was broken. It was loose and came off with ease. I returned the freezer the following day for a refund. I planned to order another one but have it delivered to the store.
Summary: I purcahsed this to replace my 15 year old GE that was no longer properly keeping my food frozen solid. I like the upright freezer for an easy view, access to my food and easy to defrost. The 4.2 size is pricy compared to a larger chest size but this size and ease features I mention is just right for me. I recommend you get this size as opposed to the one size smaller for the following reasons.
Summary: Delivery was about 6 days before the projected delivery day. Not a bad thing. The packing was sufficient with no scratches or dents. Just the perfect size and barely hear it running. Very pleased with this purchase. I am using it for extra storage in my garage.
Summary: I just couldn't get enough space to freeze. I bought this and double stacked on the bottom put the Freezer and Refrigerator The thing works perfectly. 18 month Warranty IN HOME As long as your within 75 miles Otherwise you have to take to the closest repair. If you register the warranty online you get 2 month extension on the warranty Very Very Quiet. Freezer on $#1 and is at 22 DEGREE Lots of shelf space and door rack space. Excellent Buy.
Summary: Lots of storage,nicely made. Easy to move and quickly gets very cold.Very quiet operation. One big issue was with the box it was shipped in--very flimsy,no corner reinforcements.I took a chance bringing it home what with some external damage on the shipping box. Several small dents on lower front freezer door.Also found "hidden damage" on inside of upper door-big crack in plastic. I repaired myself,since I found it more troublesome to try to return this unit to walmart.
Summary: Unit arrived yesterday, and i moved it into place. I let it sit overnight, and plugged it in and set the thermostat this morning. 2 1/2 hours later, absolutely no cooling had taken place. I called Walmart.com and Chris was very helpful in arranging a replacement, which I will comment on when it arrives.
Summary: I had this delivered on a Friday and plugged it in on Sunday. It started right up but never cooled. I called Danby's service number and they told me that the Freon didn't settle yet so wait 24 hours. I did that and it still didn't work. Even though I told them that something was leaking from the back they said it wasn't Freon. I need to call them again to either get someone here to fix it or send me a label to send it back. Too bad, I liked the size very much.
