Summary: I've been wearing First perfume for 25 years and I and everyone around me love it. I always get compliments on how good it smell. However, this time it smelled different and the color is much darker than it normally is. I don't know if Van Cleef & Arpels changed the formula or if this was just a "bad" batch. I've tried to wear it a few times but it doesn't smell good.
Summary: I am so heartbroken over this review! I wore First for years. It was a beautiful clean, soapy floral. Slightly powdery, but not overwhelming. Beautiful and classic - one of my favorites for ages. I recently bought a new bottle, and it had a strange sharp or musty smell to the drydown. I thought it was bad, so I sent it back and got another, with the same results. I tried the Edp instead. Same results.
Summary: 2.5 stars for First. Notes are floral black currant, jasmine, narcissus, sandelwood and vanilla. First smells expensive and sexy. I'm not sure I will purchase a bottle as First has a strange note (perhaps the narcissus?) that doesn't agree with me.
Summary: Well, this scent is *not* subtle and it certainly got strong reactions from both DH and DS. "Offensively strong!" "Like someone who hasn't washed for days!" and "Rancid!" were some of the kinder remarks made, along with "You're not sitting next to me wearing that!" (I tried the edt at the airport.) OK, well on first spritz there is a bergamot/fruity topnote and then the scent takes on a sour tone, unfortunately.
Summary: Sophistication in a bottle, that sums it up. One of the most beautiful drydowns ever. Last winter while gathering clothes to wash, I picked up one of my sweaters I had worn on a day when I wore First. It was then when I realized the overwheming beauty of this fragrance. Edit: Okay girls and boys, the lesson of the day is that you can't judge a fragrance merely by how gorgeous it smells on fabric.
Summary: I was very disappointed with this perfume as it does not smell anything like I expected. I'm wondering if this product is stale as there is hardly any smell at all and once sprayed on the skin it disappears completely. I have used this perfume/toilette spray for years and love it's floral scent. In fact I don't use any other perfume.
Summary: Having had and loved Van Cleef's First Premier Bouquet perfume I thought this would be similar. Unfortunately it isn't in fact it is just sitting collecting dust as I would descibe it as vile. I dearly would love to get hold of the Premier Bouquet but as yet my search is in vain.........
