Summary: I received a decant of this, and I've been dying to try it. Well, I finally did. In short, I don't love it and I don't hate it. The sharp cedar smell is immediate once it's applied. On me, within a few minutes it settles and I smell cinnamon, clove, and a hint of cedar. After about an hour, I'm left with geranium, fig, and clove. I don't get the cumin notes that the previous reviewer mentioned, but that sound like a positive!
Summary: Many years ago,it could have been as far back as the late 80's,I sprayed Feminite du Bois on at the Shiseido counter. It smelled so good in the bottle but to my everlasting horror on me it smelled like a corpse rotting under a forest of evergreen trees!I was incredibly sad-with the wrong body chemistry I was unable to buy this lovely perfume.Fast forward 10 years and I was on a tour bus when a lady walked by me going to the back of the bus and I smelled it on her-it was...
Summary: I bought this in the pure parfum form after reading the notes. In the store I tried the EDP and really enjoyed it. When I tried the parfum I thought it would be very woody and I am a huge cederwod fan but it turned into a stuffy, stewed dark fruit on me that I found hard to endure. So disappointed because I respect the idea, but the execution didn't work for me.
Summary: Everything about the background and description of this fragrance had me intrigued, and predisposed to loving it. Unfortunately on me there is no longed for woodsy cedar, cinnamon or clove; just an improbable mixture of sugary candied orange and very bold cumin. Someone earlier made a comparison to Dinner By Bobo which, to my nose this so strongly resembles, I now wonder if the ebayer from whom I bought my decant made a mistake.
Summary: I like this although it is heavy on the cedar. Very much an acquired taste, unusual. Always got the impression that nobody else around me much liked this, as it provoked a not altogether positive reaction.....
Summary: Sometimes I just don't understand my nose. To me right now, this has the same deep, slightly dirty cola accord that is the center of Dinner By Bobo. In fact, this smells almost exactly like Bobo, only minus the cumin and with an extra punch of violet.
Summary: Love the bottle, one of the best designs. I bought this looking for a deeper, spicy scent. It does have loads of cedar, a note I love in abundance. Equal amounts of spice - maybe clove, cinnamon? Unfortunately, there's also a big dose of unnecessary fruit. Just doesn't belong it this fragrance - it not for that odd addition, FdB would have been a perfect woody/spicy fragrance.
Summary: Smells JUST like a chewed up #2 pencil at first. Then I felt like a hamster, crawling around in my cedar shavings looking for a glass tube to drink out of. After a few hours, it loses those GIANT cedarwood notes, and softens to a woody floral. I can't get past the first couple of hours--JUST like being in school, chomping on your pencil with your Scantron test paper in front of you. That pencil smell permeates my memory!
