Summary: No, no, no, at least to the modern version of it! Having read some raving reviews about this classic, I ventured out to the loal drugstore with a well-composed perfume section and took a hopeful sniff - instantly regretting it. Sprayed it on to give it a second chance - and rued the day.
Summary: Straight up Bánh mì. It sprays on a promising, yet vaguely astringent oriental, but within seconds it is the various components of a Vietnamese sandwich. Cilantro, daikon, pork belly, chiles, pickled vegetables, right down to the yeasty tang of a crusty baguette. There must be something wrong with me; no one in their right mind would make a fragrance that smells like this.
Summary: at first I liked this fragrance as it reminds me of my early childhood on the eighties it was very nostalgic.but then I DID NOT like it anymore when I use it although it has a staying power the smell of fragrance has a bitter scent which I dislike especially on summer this bitter smell makes me wants to vomit when I use it
Summary: My mum had the "vintage" perfume in the '80s, and I loved it. It was THE perfume..The opening was sharp, yet mellow and the drydown was mellow , yet sharp. Undescribably beautiful..Sadly,I can't find the the notes that made it such a special fragrance in any of the two reformulations , which I am sure it suffered.I travel a lot and have searched for the real Magie Noire in many countries, without success,I even wrote to Lancome and asked about the missing (or added)...
Summary: Well... let me just say that this fragrance is very popular. When I worked for Lancome lots of customers would ask for it. It has been out for YEARS! However, it is really not my cup of tea so to speak. It is a bit strong smelling and reminds me of something an older individual would wear but everyone is different so I am not sure. I just prefer lighter or more oriental smelling fragrances.
Summary: Wow, I can't believe that Lancome would change the formula of a perfume that was perfect the way it was!! I've noticed a change in the aroma and wish they would go back to the original formula they used 30 years ago! PLEASE listen to what all of us are saying and do something about it!!
Summary: You are right. They are replacing natural ingredients with made in lab synthetics.I hate all the other Lancome fragrances. Magie Noire used to last on my skin a long hours, now it smells awful after a while. Sales people deny the changes, but they try to sell as much junk to you as posible. It is really too bad that many great perfumes are changed from the original.
Summary: Judy is positively correct. I just went back to the store to get a supply of Magie. I have been loyal to this fragrance for many years. It has indeed, without a doubt changed. I know Magie Noire. It smells as though it has been diluted. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. What used to be excellent, is now so-so. I won't settle for that. If they do not change it back, I will no longer buy Lancome products!
Summary: This perfume does not smell like anything else out there! The right person can definitely pull this off, however it would be best worn in the evening and has a tendency to smell like something that older women might like.
Summary: I agree with Julie. I bought a 1 oz. plastic bottle and the fragrance is powdery. Just the top notes are reminescent of the Magie Noire I knew. I decided to buy a big glass bottle but the this one has a nauseating sweet fragrance... What a mess Lancôme has made with what was a wonderful fragrance...
