Dark, mossy wood. Intriguing!
29 January 2014
Summary: This is definitely an aromatic fougère fragrance. The dark woody notes make it unique and interesting to wear. I must admit I was turned off by the mention of the whole "barbershop" vibe. But now I'm sure that this one stands out as a very dark and greenish woody fragrance that will suit most users and can be worn as a day or night time scent. I find it an intriguing one to wear and would certainly recommend it.
Summary: If I had only three words to describe Rive Gauche Pour Homme, I'd say "woody marine aromatic." Now as for the rest of this review, I'll trace the etymology of each of these words back to -- just kidding. This scent combines a faintly sugary pine with an aromatic water-wind freshness for a few feet projection. It's fresh without being soapy and masculine without veering into machismo territory.
Summary: Un parfum doit avant tout sentir bon. (A perfume must above all smell good.) ~Guy Robert~ And that's exactly what Rive Gauche pour Homme does! A "modern fougere". IMO, everyone should have RGpH in their collection. It's not my #1 favorite but it's a solid, clean smelling, non-offensive performer that's perfect for when you just want to smell good. I will never be without it...
Rive Gache Pour Homme- One of the Best Designer, Masculine Scents on the Market
27 January 2013
Summary: My review for Rive Gauche Pour Homme (Original formulation - from the 4.2 oz./125 ml 'shaving can' flacon): A step back to the time of classic, old-school barbershops but with a great twist of modernity. Yves Saint Laurent did something special here in the realm of the traditional Aromatic Fougere. It is not a scent that will blow your mind, but instead, put it at ease. Sometimes, as in this case, less is more.
Summary: Awesome fragrance! Very masculine, this is a masterpiece for sure. One of the best releases of all the times. Anise, lavander and rosemary is the most pronounced notes to my nose. This has a barbershop smell, which is wonderful to my nose. Classic yet modern, this is an all-year-around scent. If you like Azzaro, Chanel Platinum Egoiste, you'll love Rive Gauche. Sillage, lasting power and projection are good.
Summary: Rive Gauche for Men is a timeless masterpiece that deserves widespread availability. I'd love some of the younger men in my life to have the opportunity to experience something so extravagant and earthy as this. Rich and herbaceous, Rive Gauche for Men is understandably an acquired taste. However that's not to say that this fragrance is in any way offensive or loud. I would actually say this fragrance is quite clean and refreshing despite its earthiness.
Summary: I love Rive Gauche and have been using it for years. This was my first purchase from Perfume.com and it was a great experience. The pages opened quickly and smoothly. Check out was easy and my items were delivered quickly and in perfect condition.
Summary: Wow - this is one of my new favorites. A really, masculine, rich, spicy fragrance that is sure to turn noses. Only complaint is the lasting power - as it seems to die down pretty significantly after 4-5 hours. This is destined to be a classic, though. Love that it is not a "mainstream" fragrance, too!
Summary: Not sure what it is about this scent, but it will drive women wild. It smells a bit on the "old man" side of things, in my opinion, (think Old Spice or Brut) but that's not bad. It's a pleasant smell with a divine dry down, but the women must have a receptor in their olfactory bulb that Rive Gauche pleasantly tickles. It's amazing. Can be worn any time (safe for work, unless you work with a lot of women; then it could be dangerous) and in any setting.
