Summary: Just received a sample in the mail this afternoon. I was expecting something completely different per the reviews but, oh my! What a pleasant surprise! I have been lamenting the loss of my beloved original formula Grey Flannel. BUT, I have now found a suitable replacement in Mr Lauren's Purple Label Cologne. Wonderful, wonderful stuff. This scent is all business and should be worn with a well-tailored suit.
Summary: I recently acquired some samples of this Purple label and was very pleased with the scent construction- it definitely smells purple, but slight and not cloying in its sweetness. I detect the green coriander, a light floral scent and slight orange in the top. This top combination seems to be what gives it the clean feel. After a few moments, this gives way to the middle notes of a bit of tabacco surrounded by herbal aromatics of thyme and a little sage as well.
Summary: The biggest downside of this scent is that it does not last for a long time. Also is very expensive ([$] for 4.2oz) and only available in Ralph Lauren Anchor Stores (Chicago, NY, etc.)or online. It is cheaper if you purchase it online, however it usually does not come in any sort of a box. Has a fantastic smell though!
Pros: Clean & Fresh, Draws Compliments, Great Smell
Summary: Great smell that doesn't last. Also too hard to find. NOthing on the market but testers. Is it out of stock everywhere or discontinued? It's not even mentioned on the Ralph Lauren site anymore.
Summary: All in all this is not your run of the mill fragrence this smell has a highly distinct aroma about it, one could say unique or hard to explain but nontheless people will wonder about the smell!!
