  • Summary: Fresh spicy and tipping the gourmand Got it for present. It was in the want-list a while. Too bad they used the 1881 name for this as i find 1881 a masterpiece on its own without getting this as a flanker. First spray : Opens fresh with a 90's shaving cream vibe waiting 5 minutes (lavender?? where??) when its slowly turns into aquatic warm spicy mix , what in my opinion is a really great combo. Its not groundbreaking but damn its comfortable!

  • Summary: a bit of spice and citrus.a mild scent with sillage. lasts 4-5 hours on me but projection is not great. light woods give it the longevity and it is a bit powdery after a few hours. a blind buy for me that worked out fine. will get my brother a bottle for x-mas...

  • Summary: This is my third Cerruti edt. Like/love it. Blind buy after reading some reviews on this site. Blind buy because the price was great. Here Holland it can be bought for around 28 euro a bottle of 100 ml. It smells indeed a bit powdery after a while but it doesn't bother me one bit. Sweet smelling without becoming "sugary". Great longevity too so i see no reason to buy a refill after first bottle runs out.

  • Summary: Great specific blend of sweet almonds and woods (I get cedar quite strongly). Not necessarily spicy or intensely masculine, but 1881 BLACK delivers a complex symphony of rich, deep notes that I find different people interpret and pick out notes of widely contrasting attributes. I get more comments and compliments from wearing this than most of my other fragrances (except combo of Blue Sugar/Acquolina and Patchouli/Molinard).

  • Summary: Oriental woody, sweet, a bit synthetic, strong-I recommend one spritz only, great longveity, quite youthfull. Of course there are better scents out there, but all in all, not bad...but not quite black, I must add.

  • Summary: A nice one. I am not generally a Cerruti fan and bought this blind. A very good purchase: opens up a bit flowery on the top notes but only for a few minutes. Then it turns to a honey & candy smell which reminds me of C. Herrera CH Men. Great longevity, i get 10 hrs on my skin, with several hours of strong projection. A great blind buy, i recommend it especially that it can be found very cheap.

  • Summary: I think this smells very sweet and powdery after a few hours . I dont think this fragrance is strong at all - somehow I was expecting more from this .

  • Summary: Nothing like the original 1881 which is a soapy green and fresh scent. This, like the others mentioned here, is a very medicinal smell. Sweet and woody. Yes, just like Joop! HOmme and Burberry. A little disappointing, not a good name for it but the stained glassy black bottle is nifty.

  • Summary: Upon application Cerruti Black immediately reminded me of the original Burberry (the one with the silver cap, formerly known as London). And they certainly share a sticky, synthetic, sweet vibe and an intense mossy feel. I kind of enjoy it in the Burberry but it gets out of hand in this one. Especially that artificial marzipan note goes haywire on me.

  • Summary: I agree with Ken_Russell. The black is a misnomer in this case. It smells like a blend of JOOP or dunhill DESIRE mixed with CREED SMW or Sean John UNFORGIVEABLE. Sweet like candy with a pepper (read Unforgiveable or SMW) showing up gradually thru the dry down. Very nice scent, wrong name.
