Default Laptops and Notebooks, same or not?

Just wondering if this two terms refers to something else different or do they mean the same? Can anyone share?

They mean the same. I guess they call it notebooks nowadays because its size and weight have change a lot. Before, laptops use to be bulky, as much as 40lbs, 9 inch displays. But now, most of the laptop equals the size of the standard notebook pad so thats why they refer it as notebook.
