Default How to make a laptop run/process faster

I know it can be a pain if your laptop has been functioning slower than usual. Now let's discuss here the various ways on how to make it run or process faster. I'll start

Do a disk defragment.

Disk defragmenting compresses the data and files in your laptop and the end result is a larger space in your hard drive. To access the disk defragment utility, click Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmenter

Okay, your turn!

All right, me next!

Do A Disk Clean Up. Get ride of those old temporary files and all those files that you don't need anymore. This really works for me.

To Access Disk Cleanup, do the following:

Click Start then go to All Programs then click on Accessories. After that, choose System Tools then click on Disk Clean Up

Now when you reach disk clean up, there is a list of objects that need to be checked off. The things that you will check off will be the things that you need to be cleaned off. If you want to be safe about the whole thing, you can just check these:

Temporary Internet Files
Offline Webpages
Microsoft Office Temporary Files
Microsoft Error Reporting Files
Temporary Files
Compress Old Files

I use this nifty software program called CCleaner (CCleaner - Home)

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware!

Is that a good sales pitch or what?! Nah, I just got that information from their website LOL But hey you guys...you ought to give this a try. With over 110 million downloads as of recent, how can you go wrong? (Okay, that was MY sales pitch LOL)

Check your registry files and how your laptop "reads" your processor upon boot or start up. Perhaps your operating system (OS) has to read a lot of files first before it finally gets to boot. What you need to do is clean up your registry files. Mind you, there are a lot of people who are afraid of doing this because of their fear that they may erase something that's important and the OS won't work altogether. The safest thing to do is just use a registry cleaner or repair software program. Here are just some of them:

- registryfix.com
- ccleaner.com (as previously mentioned by pamjazz)
- acelogix.com
- pconpoint.com

Cleaning the registry from gunk, junk, temporary and obsolete files from your disk will truly help your notebook process faster!

CCleaner is a neat utility for clearing junk from the drive. For defrag, i use the automatic Diskeeper. Cant bother to manually run defrag on the large drives and wait to see if its finished. This defrags in the background and finishes the job fast.
whatever the program, its good to cleanup, defrag once a while atleast to avoid performance issues and save money on replacing drives before their lives!
