Hi everybody. Yesterday, I re-installed Windows XP (SP 2) on my laptop. The built-in speakers are not working. On the device manager, it displays “unknown hardware.” When I tried to click on it, it does not work. When I tried add new hardware, nothing comes up. How do I make the speakers work? Also, the wireless network doesn’t work. I would really appreciate all your help. Thanks in advance.

What you have to do is to install also the drivers for your sound/audio speakers. You can simply visit your laptop manufacturer’s website. Find the appropriate drivers for your laptop. Just affix there your laptop’s make and model. Regarding your wireless network problem, try checking your wireless adapter utility. Go to Windows Start>Programs Menu. You might want to check the system tray for an icon that can be clicked to bring it up. If it is not present, obviously, you haven’t installed it too. Download also the utility from your manufacturer’s site. I hope this helps.
