Default RAM prob?

I just bought 2 2GB PC5300 667 DDR2 240pins RAMs for my PC..

The problem is..the PC would only detect 3.5GB of RAMs instead of 4GB under the System Properties..but it detected 4GB in the BIOS

why is that?

Not all of the memory will be used by the PC some of it are allocated to some softwares like for example the Operating System...

That is why if we chexk our memory it is not exactly the same compared to what it was when we bought it.

The actual reason is the limit of a 32 bit operating system, it cannot read more than the 3.5gbs you see and that's with PAE enabled, which on some systems can actually cause instability
