Generic versus Branded

What are the advantages and disadvantages of buying branded items over "generic" ones? I'm curious with this because there are more and more "generic" items being sold online these days.

For one, I just saw a website that sells a lot of USB laptop coolers, webcams and multi-media keyboards that don't have brands at all. They're way cheaper than the branded ones, of course, but do they also have other advantages apart from the price?

Generic - usually no warranty or if there's any, just for a few days or weeks
Branded - substantial time for warranty

Generic - usually breaks/bogs down easily
Branded - has quality and customer satisfaction in mind
