Default Anybody knows how to fix optical mouse?

My Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical mouse 3000 (model 1056) stopped working. The USB plug is in and active, the light's on. I installed the mouse software from the Microsoft site. The batteries are in and the signal strength is high, yet for some reason the mouse pointer just isnt moving on the screen. Also, the touchpad works completely normal. What is wrong with it? Any procedures?

Try reconnecting the mouse and the adapter by pressing the connect buttons on each. They might be operating on different channels. There is a reset button on the bottom of the mouse. This will reset it to a new channel. Check your 'mousepad' surface if it is not clear or unchanging. When an optical mouse is used on a mirror surface it will not work. Also sometimes the working distance reduces rapidly as the initial 'burst' of battery power drops. I found energizer and eveready batteries last longer than Duracell.

What I would suggest is for you to restart your computer. Unplug the mouse and then when your computer's all started up/booted up, reconnect the optical mouse.

Hope this helps!
