Default Tv resolution problem

Is there anyway I can stop my tv expand the channels? The channels appear bloated or stretched. Sometimes, I can’t see the information/news bar at the bottom of the screen.

I believe you are referring to the “aspect ratio” of the picture. You can change or configure the settings both on your direct TV box and TV set. You are talking about the "aspect ratio" of the picture. You can change that on both the direct TV box and the television set itself.
