Are there other features or latest updates for tvs?

Are there other features or latest updates for tvs? I mean, if i have a cable, is it possible that i can set up my tv with pc webcam or headset where i can chat with someone on the line or channel? For instance, i can chat with someone in a secured channel. Why would i bother subscribing in a lagging broadband where i can use my cable subscription? Just wondering.
