Default Picture quality of HDTV gets affected after power outage

Hi guys! A friend of mine told me that his Samsung HL-T6187SA High-definition television is currently having bad reception and/or picture quality after a power outage affected his area. Basically, prior to the outage, the quality was fine but drastic changes were seen after the power came back. Recently, the unit would just black-out for a few seconds and comes back on. What should I advise him? Thanks.

There's a possibility that the bulb of the TV did not cool down properly after the power outage occured. I am likely to assume that the HDTV was on when the power went out. Based on my research, the TV bulb needs to cool down properly but in this case, an abrupt power interruption affected the usual process. I would advise your friend to buy a UPS the next time so that when the power interruption occurs, there's still enough time to properly shut down the HDTV.

As for the resolution and picture quality, what needs to be done is to press the "INFO" button on the remote control.

If this does not work, you will need to call Samsung for technical support. I hope your TV is still within warranty to avoid extra charges.

Cheers!
