Default HDMI vs. Component

I was experimenting with my new HDTV to compare video quality with Component Video vs. the new HDMI connection.
Setup: 1) Panasonic Viera LCD
2) Blu Ray Player Samsung BDP1400
3) Apple TV 4) Cable Box.
5) HDMI connected thru HDMI switch so I could switch back between sources.

On the APPLE TV I saw no difference since the most items on AppleTV are SD. On the Blue Ray in 1080P I did notice sharper picture with the HDMI. To a lesser extent on the Cable since it is only at 1080i. I guess once the HD in cable gets updated to 1080P, we will finally see the difference.
