Can I import videos from our old camcorder? We still have all the cords but how do we connect it to our pc? We have tons of tapes. Some are even back to our childhood years. We would really appreciate if anyone can help on this. Thanks

Your camcorder is an analog hi-8 vcam. So, it is not digital, therefore no firewire port. But, there is a solution for this. You can purchase an external capture card. This will allow your camcorder and pc connected through analog inputs (RCA and S-Video).
Your analog video must be converted into digital stream through a video capture card. A video capture card allows you to send a video to your pc. The signal can then be recorded to your pc’s hard drive with a video capture software. Here are the steps: -Connect vcam to pc -Set vcam mode to playback, set for capture, pause -Open Windows Movie Maker and set to TASK pane -Click Capture from video device; Windows Movie Maker controls vcam operations- on -play, video stream is captured to Windows Movie Maker COLLECTION. After this, you have transferred your videos to your pc. You can download video and audio editing software if you choose to improve the quality of your videos. Then later on, you can burn it into dvd. |
