Default Hooking up Various Sources to XLR

Hello, I am a new member here so please bear with me.
I am a High School Student involved with our video production studio, and one of the events I coordinate are the filming of the sports programs. We have Commentators, and a camera dedicated to the scoreboard and its a whole big production. The only problem we have that we would like to remedy is figuring out a way to speed up the post production process. My question is this; We have usually waited until post production to add in soundtracks to the lull points of the game, is it possible to hook up an MP3 player with a stereo 3.5mm Mini Male cable and plug that into the female XLR port on our camera, and then just raise the audio when we want the song to play. (Mini Stereo 3.5mm Male to 3-Pin XLR male) Thank you in advance.

You can try using the PowerDirector 6. It’s a video and audio editing software. You can later add music soundtracks on your video coverage if you want a clean sound. But, I don’t think it’s possible that you hook up your mp3 to an XLR. The XLR acts as an adapter so that your camcorder can handle audio recording to its capacity. On my mind, if your mp3 has good speakers, you can just manually control the volume while it’s playing. Since your camcorder is hooked up to your XLR, you have the option when to record the audio from your mp3. The set up is like this: mp3 with speakers (playing) to XLR adapter to camcorder( recording video and audio)
